Subject: Remapping James?

I'm just curious if James can be remapped to take M2/3 Textures. No one has mentioned it yet.

Well, it is certainly possible, but I believe DAZ has a nasty little gotcha clause regarding trying to imitate their Mil 3 figures. I'm not sure if just manually changing James's UVs to match would be enough to cause any heartache, but folks will probably be careful with it. It would be nice, though:( eric

I don't have P6 but I don't believe it is impossible someone to remap James to M2/3 it will need much patience though... I have tryed to remap Don to adjust the UVS so that he could take M2 eye textures but after that I could not use him in the face room... pitklad

Thanks for the info. It was a wild wish. To have 2 Jimmys 1 'regulation' and 1 remapped for my own use. I just hate to see all my Michael textures gather dust. And I have no patience with remapping.

You should put a bug in AprilYsh's ear. I think she's the one who did some of the other remappings. I agree, it would be nice to have some of those textures work for me too. eric

Maybe someone can ask Steve from 3duniverse nicely & he can add a plugin into the UTC for james & jessi.

Yeah, but those plugins produce large amounts of semi-duplicated texture maps. Remapping the OBJ is far better in terms of usability. As for the face room, you should be able to use face room, create a morph target, save it as an OBJ file. Then import the morph via normal means onto the remapped James. You don't actually change any geometry with a UV Map change, only the coordinates of the 2d mapping. The morphs should translate just fine. eric

Yep the morphs should work if you load them as obj, however everytime I got on the Face room I had that non standar P5 figure message and although I could work on it when I got back on the pose room all he head was one material... Propably the face room recognises what figure you load from the UVS or the materiall names, don't know... I believe too that remapping the OBJ is the best solution, however it needs very much work so that there is no distorion on some points and areas like brows or beard look exactly the same on both figures... I have remmaped NEA's head from scratch to take V1-2 textures perfectly and it was the longest part during her creation! pitklad
