Subject: Another P6 Render Problem

Whenever I attempt a render in P6 using the Firefly engine (it doesn't matter if it's a person, vehicle, etc), P6 fails to render the extreme top and left edges of the image (please see image above). In effect leaving an unrendered, empty border about 1 pixel wide on both the left and top sides of the image. I've tried everything I can think of with no success. What's peculiar is if I use the firefly engine in P5, the borders render just fine and if I use the P4 render engine in P6 the borders also render just fine. The problems with those two solutions are, I'm working on an animation and P5's render times are simply to slow to be practical and the P4 render engine fails to yield the desired shadows. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I haven't noticed this problem. Did you click the match document window setting?

DarkSkills ( ) posted Wed, 06 April 2005 at 1:41 PM

Yeah, I tried clicking Match Document Window, but it gives the same result. I've actually tried clicking all the different render dimension settings and I still get the same result :(

try rendering without the post filter and see if that helps...

I've tried changing between box, gaussian and sync varying the values from 1-3, still no luck I'm afraid:(

Since I was grabbing stuff from my linked P5 library I figured I'd try switching back to the P6 library and rendering a figure native to P6. Above you can see a render of Jessie with the same left and top border problem. I'm curious, am I the only one who is experiencing this problem?

Yeah, I seem to have this too. Machine is a P4 2.8GHz 1G RAM desktop on an Intel motherboard, ATI Radeon 9600 w/128MB. More on render settings when it quits rendering :)

I remember hearing about render shifts from some other posts. I would report the problem to CL...

After seeing this post, i tried it as well, and i'm showing the same problem on my Mac (specifics irrelevant at this time). I've tried numerous render variations in P6 FireFly and all results are the same. And, as with your results, P4 and OpenGL don't show this effect. So, it would seem this is not a PC specific problem (minute as it is).

I just tried it and it does the same for me. And it saves the 1pixel line if you export the image. PC but don't ask more than that ;o)

Thanks for the responses. At least I know I'm not going crazy:) I've just sent a bug report over to CL so hopefully we'll have a fix soon.
