I have admired the 3d creations for years of others. I am wanting to begin my journey and creativity. Problem is I have no idea where to begin. So many programs out there, so many add on programs. I am just an average home computer user (knowledge wise). I read messages and understand nothing of what is being talked about. What program should I get to begin with? Are there any "utility" programs that make it easier? LOL is there a "Poser for Dummies" book? Any help from any veteran creators would be appreciated. I just want to create wonderful images and one day into animating my creations. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

Post your "how to start" question at the D|S Forum at DAZ3d.com. They have tutorials and such that will get you on your way.

If you find you like this 3D stuff, then you can start thinking about maybe buying Poser or other software, and content for it.

Pretty new to all this myself. While I did manage to buy Poser recently due to working some OT that gave me a bit of extra $$ to spend, it's not needed. Go to DAZ www.daz3d.com and download their free DAZ|Studio. While you're there, grab their free figures (Victoria 3, Michael 3, Aiko 3 & Emoitiguy). Combine those with freebies available from DAZ, here and various other places, and you'll have enough to get your feet wet. No "Poser for Dummies" book that I know of, but there are wonderful tutorials all over the place. Geep has some great ones here too.

From what I know DAZ Studio has a smaller learning curve than Poser, plus a feature that I wish was available in Poser... preview without having to render.
