Well between here and Runtime DNA and the very cool Catherine H. of Mec4D and Olivier and AO, SBR etc., with the new Poser 6 lighting and some seriously overheated brain cells...I decided to look at my OTHER 'toy' Shade 7 LE and the PoserFusion.

WOW.
If you can't wrap your head around one render engine, you can always play with the other. The only postwork is adding the text.

I agree and its way faster than firefly and offers true radiosity.

Do P6 shaders inmport into Shade? cheerio lululee

philebus ( ) posted Fri, 08 April 2005 at 7:08 AM

Shade has its own shaders! I would also recomend upgrading to Standard (Pro would be nice but way beyond my budget!), it allows a much larger render (up to 4000 pixels) and has a few extra modelling tools among its plug-ins. There is some UV editing but it doesn't look much better than UV Mapper Classic (shame). I'm only just starting to see the possibilities for modelling - particularly architecture!

Ohhh Wow! That looks great! I haven't even had time to play with Shade - I've been so busy testing out P6. I think I'll have to make some time today Angel1

Shade7 seems very difficult to me. I need an easy tut to import poser figures or scenes and easy use of radiosity and lightings. The only time I have tried poserfusion, Shade crashes and I left the mess ... :(

Sounds like you all need to go here.

face_off ( ) posted Fri, 08 April 2005 at 4:19 PM

I did a quick play with Shade - mainly to see which mat room nodes would be imported from P5 using PoserFusion - and found that it really only imported the texturemaps, and that was it. The LE version didn't really have the equivilent of the mat room in P5 (ie. you couldn't do tricks in there), so I figured that P6 was going to be able to give more realistic renders than Shade. So looking at just using Shade for modelling.

Either STANDARD or PRO may give you the tools and shaders you need.

I bought Standard when it came out. I render in it most of the time. Funny, I can get realistic renders. I did play for a few months with it, to do that. I guess "a quick play with Shade," say's it all. Don't waist your time learning a different material setup. Sorry, but that's like opening P6 and loading a few things and saying that it sucks because I don't know how to use the nodes right.

face_off ( ) posted Fri, 08 April 2005 at 11:16 PM

beryld...when I say "quick play"...it was long enough to have a good look through the surfaces (or whatever terminology Shade LE uses) and realise that is wasn't as flexible as P5. I wasn't saying that Shade sucked! I was simply making the observation that the LE version doesn't have the node system that P5 has.

I stand corrected. I thought LE had all this stuff too. I havn't found a limit to how many combinations and layers that can be used at one time. Let's just say a lot. I only have Standard. Still waiting for CL to send serial number for LE, not that I'll use it. Oh well, can't have everyone agree on everything, it would get to boaring.

Yep - the LE Surface looks like this. I want maths nodes, and edge_blends, etc.

Shade does not support the P5/P6 material room nodes. I have Shade Standard and it does only import the textures but no nodes.

A lot of the advanced stuff is in the mapping section at the bottom of the surfaces tab There's more when you click on the More tab at the top Every image I've done since October 2004 has been rendered in Shade Standard, I find it way better than Firefly Oh and if you've got the patience render using Path Tracing mode, takes nearly ten times longer than ray tracing but the results are worth it

Tashar59 ( ) posted Sun, 10 April 2005 at 5:31 PM

If you want a challenge, try using Jessi. I have made extra mask maps for spec, trans, bumps, eye sockets that don't like front lights. I think that quite a few people have missed the MORE tab. It being at the top rather the bottom with everything else. Like all apps, you need to put some real time and effort in learning the different setup. You can use materials made from P5/P6 if you apply them to a square or background and save the jpg. But I'm sure everyone knew that.

By the by, the above image was done in Path Tracing mode.
Long yes, great images, oh yeah!

I know that there are lots of options in Shade but it does not support the P5/P6 shader nodes from the P5/P6 material room and that's what face_off wanted to know if I understood correctly. So ie applying his Real skin shader or the Hyper Real script on V3 or M3 in P5/P6, saving the Pz3 and importing to Shade will not import the shader nodes, no matter if you click on the More tab in Shade or not - it is not supported.

Tutorial? You dont need no stinking tutorial, but I'll tell you how I did the above image: 0) Note: I am using a Windows based system. 1) In Poser, load, pose your character(s) 2) Save the file as a .pz3 3) Fire up Shade. From the View menu option, open the Browser and the Camera. From the Menu>View>PoserFusion. 4) If you haven't told Shade where Poser is in the new dialog box that pops up click the POSER button, go find Poser. 5) Click the OPEN button. 6) Find the .pz3 and let Shade do its loading thing. 7) From the Browser. Click ROOT PART to highlight all the imported Data 8) Menu>Plugins>Fit Selection and the model shows in the View ports except the Perspective (Upper Right) 9) Control-Click in the View Ports but NOT on the model and in the Camera dialog, select the EYE radio button and the SET button to the Right. Use the Camera controls to set the image in the Perspective Window. 10 ) Add some lights (you don't have to) and render away. 11) Play with the Radiosiy settings. 12) Have fun. 13) Read the Manual!

Hi. remember to disable external morph targets if you are using P6 or shade will import a default figure without your added morphs

wolf, i supposed it, its the same that if you opens a P6 pz3 in P5, all the morphs are dissapeared because only P6 read its own external morph files ...
