I imported my wings 3D mesh as an obj into Bryce but it renders in some chaotic grid pattern, even with a basic texture on it. What form of inexperience is foiling me?

That's awesome... Did you accidentally duplicate it on top of the original? try deleting and re-importing. When two things overlap exactly, bryce freaks out.

Hm. I've seen this on my computer, but for the hell of me cannot remember what was the problem. Try checking in Wings whether the normals all point the same way.

I've seen this on my pc. It seems to happen when I import high-poly meshes :-/ bryce just cuts out polygons or such it's weird stuff. Never been able to fix it.

I did something like this on purpose (but I've already posted today, so it can't go up until tomorrow), where I loop cut an entire object and then pulled facets apart. Looks a bit like this..I dunno about this one, tho. You may want to run 'cleanup' and 'tesselate' (either triangulate or quadranbulate, depending on where your model goes), and lately I make all the edges hard, which seems to improve detail..good luck.

Hmm, ok I'll keep playing. I admit that it's somewhat cool (possibly even 'too cool') but I would like to get my original mesh back.

It looks like a poser person that's been inflated, and then had all the polys being moved on their normals after every edge was loop cut... Anyhow if that wasn't intentional, it still looks really cool. You don't have compy gremlins do ya?

No gremlins, sorry.
