Subject: Vue 4 and 5 becoming highly unstable on Mac OSX...

RE-installed Vue 5 Friday evening, loaded all but the latest patch (when all my problems began), and now it won't stay up for more than five minutes. Anyone else w/ a Mac seeing these problems? /P

You should try to contact E-on i would say. Could be that the anti pirate thingie gets you by accident. But it is only a guess. When i read it right, Vue 5 was stable before and is unstable now. So you should look for differences. Have you updated your OS maybe in the meantime? Another reason maybe. You should provide us with a little more details.

Hi< i found too that Vue I has become more unstable progresively since I installed it on my G5 mac Love esther PS could be due to the new versions.

Nope - still using 10.2.8. I'll ring up e-on and see what's going on in particular. /P

Just a thought, and you might have already tried this but have you repaired permissions with disk utility? I had all sorts of weird problems when I applied the update to V5I until I repaired permissions.

ImagineThat how is V5I running on the Mac? And which Macintosh do you have?

I am on 10.2.8 as well, with a G4 768 MHz, 1GB RAM. No problems at all. A little slow sometimes, but that is my machine, not Infinite. Especially when i surf the Internet, chat, play a game and listen to music beside working in Infinite. AND, as a beta tester i don't think i treat Infinite very well. I update, install over, try to make it crash etc etc. "my job" so to say. The only thing I never did is wipe it away from my computer and re-install it from scratch. No need for that so far. Where i found some problems from time to time is when i run programs in parrallel that need classic. REALLY old ones so to say. That can cause problems indeed. AND, sometimes i have problems with the Wacom tablet. The same ones that Poser have or Cinema. That the data come too fast and the program can't deal with that amount of information anymore. It is a shame how bad the Wacom driver still is - after so many years of development.

I've had lots of problems with Vue5 lately; specifically, multiple crashes when trying to "load plant species." E-on has been more than helpful, supplying strange new patches and suggesting fixes, and it's a little better now, but I still hold my breath when I try to load a new plant. This is on a G4 with 1.25 GHz Powerlogix upgrade, 10.3.8. At least the app saves a copy of the crashing document if I forget to. Oh, well, Vue5 Infinity-and-Beyond is on the UPS truck as we speak; that'll be a whole new can of worms! all the best from PDG (texboy)

I have a dual 1.42 G4 with 2gb of ram and running OS 10.3.8. I also have a 300GB main hard drive that I run off of a second 120GB drive. So I give Vue plenty of room to breathe. I had a bunch of problems before applying the beta update to V5I off of e-ons site. Now it seems better. I get errors on poser imports but they work anyway so I ignore them. I still get some crashes and reports of compatibility problems from Vue but for the most part its fine now. It reminds me of when Vue 4 first came out on the Mac and there was a lot of stability bugs but with each update they got better. I guess most of my troubles are the same as with all the versions of Vue and RAM and that is working on really big scenes I might get some crashes. What I would love to see in the future is e-on try and optimize Vue some more so it requires less. Dont know if that possible but would love it anyway.
