Hello people, I was just reading the update on the TOS regarding under 18 character nudity (http://www.renderosity.com/index.ez?viewLink=522) and thought, to put it simply, WTF? Did anything major happen, like lawsuits, criminal accusations, or anything like that to warrant such a change? Now I don't create many nudes, much less teenage or child nudes, but I do enjoy fairy images (Sarsa & Thorne's models just rock). While fairies do not have to be nude, they now require totally opaque clothing to preserve our chaste eyes. This has probably been discussed before. No erotica, I agree. No lewd or suggestive images involving kids, I agree. But I don't know, I think this is going really far and could restrict many of us. What do you think? Art is only art if rules are in place to let the artist know what is art and what isn't art. Putting character names with polygons confuses some to think they are given life. Therefore it is important to protect these helpless polygons and put forth an effort to stop them from being used in a manner that might embarrass the polygons down the road. It's probably to make it easier to moderate and it is their store so they can do as they wish. Can be tough to decide what is erotic and what isn't. Can't faces be erotic? Time to get Laura a veil.

I'd say it was rather major battle against changes than feedback, especially of positive kind.
There are still images in galleries which are far closer to porn than any of HeartSong's pics ever been.

I suggest putting all "erotic" characters into burkas, since everything can be considered a porn - it only depends on a point of view. Edited to add: I'm another liberal Euro-gal. In case someone not knows: yes, we do consider pedophilia and pornography a crime.

The only real reason the TOS were changed to ban all bare flesh under the age of 18 is MONEY! When it comes right down to it the PTB at Renderosity don't really have any say in the rules about nudity & sex as Paypal have the last say on what is acceptable TO THEM & Renderosity just has to fall into line with that or lose large sums of money when paypal shuts their account & freezes the money.

You know back in the day (of the unmentionable PFO) this type of controversy was an everyday occurence, in fact I was a moderator whose job was specifically to smooth out all the ruffled feathers. It might be beating a expired equine but it's worth a shot since it went from 1 extreme to the other. I'd say by this time tomorrow this thread will be locked. That's fairly safe bet maybe even sooner, but that doesn't mean it pop up again in more and more threads since that's what happened before it was changed.

A huge part of art history has been about breaking rules. I just wouldn't recommend it here. :-) I wouldn't recommend doing it anywhere. Even supposedly 'open' websites have "don't go here/don't do this" type rules. It's just a matter of precisely where the line is drawn.
