Subject: My first paid Poser job, please help

milbogo ( ) posted Thu, 14 April 2005 at 3:30 AM · edited Tue, 21 January 2025 at 9:30 PM

Hi Guys, I have been on Poser for a whole day and a half, and it looks like I have my first Poser job. It may be out of my reach, but I am given the chance to try. I need to do a closeup of an eye blinking. Real closeup, to fll an entire TV screen. I tried Jessi's eyes, but she has no bottom eyelash. This also need to be done for broadcast quality in PAL. So any advice for the whole job would be appreciated. My client has come to me as I have done other projects for them. If I discover that this is out of my reach, fine, but it is worth a go - I have a few days to try. My client is cool with the fact that I will give it a go, and it may not work. So any advice would be great. Kind regards, Mil

Jessi do have eyelashes, both top and bottom. If you look in the material room, you'll that they even have seperate texmap options, one for BottomEyelashes and one for TopEyelashes. Maybe the default transmap for the BottomLashes isn't good enough for your project?

The transparency settings may be wrong. I don't know why, but it's the same problem Poser 5 often had: transparency settings come in with Transparency_Falloff set to 0.6. It should be 0 for things like eyelashes and eyebrows.

Try setting Transparency falloff of 0 for the upper and lower lashes, and the brows. (In the material room.)

If your looking for Photorealistic eyes, I'd go and get a Morris texture use V3 and some Prop eyes (blackhearted makes a good set over at RDNA, but I don't remember the name of them.) Also remember the bump and displacement maps for the close up. A lower setting is great for long shots, but you need to kick it up a bit when you close in on the subject. Let us know how it goes, and feel free to post WIPs here for additional help.

Set your figure scale to 1000%. Adjust camera to 100mm and render. I think you will get what your looking for.

Thanks guys. I wil give these suggestions a go. I also need to sort out how I am going to output to AVI. cheers.

I haven't looked at P6 yet, but I suspect it's the same as P5, look in the animation menu, then make movie. Avi should be the native supported format (as well as flash, and tiff I beleive)

Alexa has polygonal eyelashes. In an extreme closeup they may work better. Nerd3D

Jessi's blink morph is not very good, her whole eye shape kinda burbles on the close and is a little lumpy...I would prob go with the v3SAE that is free, grab a nice texture from here or there and have a go that way....the boosting to 1000 in the size is a good idea though so you can get real close with out clipping.
