Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
sounds like the memory bug. you could check in the manual settings and see if the texture filtering is checked, if so, uncheck it. Might try reducing the bucket size. If it does start be prepared to wait for awhilr. No guarantee any of this will help but it won't hurt. As far as the 64 question...can't help.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
I have not tried P6 under W64. I suspect the "3d rendering" claim from Microsoft is for real-time rendering on the 3d card, assuming a 64-bit driver taking advantage of a wider bus. Interestinly, it looks like there's a mode under W64 to allow 32-bit apps almost the entire 4GB address space. Most 32-bit apps are limited to the bottom 2GB, but a linker switch allows access to the third gigabyte. This W64 mode is supposed to give access to all but the top 256MB or something like that. However, I think the app has to be linked with /LARGEADDRESSAWARE and not have any internal assumptions about memory ranges. Only the Poser programmers can tell us if that's so. (I dream of a 64-bit multi-core HT system with 16GB of RAM and a Poser 7 that will take advantage of it.)

This might help regarding your memory troubles.Interesting. I am curious to know the results of your experiments. Thanks!

Hi, gang. Couple of quick questions for anyone who might know: 1. When I render a complex scene (2 or 3 Mil figures, background props, etc), Poser 6 just freezes on the "Loading Textures" status bar (never advances) and locks up (canceling does nothing). It will do this on FireFly or P4 Renderer at the basic settings. Oftentimes, it will get to the "Rendering" part, and just lock up. Is this another case of the infamous "memory bug" or have I missed some setting? I know this topic has probably been done to death, but I haven't seen this exact behavior described. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My machine (it's a laptop) if it helps: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 1 Gig Mem ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128MB SiS MB Chipset 2. Has anyone used Poser 6 (or 4) on Windows 64? I have an AMD Athlon 64 based machine and have debated trying the pre-release version of Windows 64 with it. Microsoft claims that it will help 3D rendering, before I install it, I just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience with it. Don't known if it would help with the above problem or not.
