Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
Pro-Pack is not a "must have" for LW 6.5 right now. There are some excellent Poser 2 Lightwave tutorials on bringing Poser characters and T-Map hair into lightwave that look really great. I'm not rushing out to buy Pro-Pack until I hear for sure that it works o.k. in LW 6.5. And that's what these forums are for. Nobody is forced to rush out and buy every character and model in the Poser stores. See what other people have to say and then decide when you are ready if a certain thing is right for your needs...
I say it is a treat for most Poser4 users. Leaving the MAX & LW plugins aside, it has a few other goodies like Python Scripting and UI upgrades. I think once the programmers in the community get a hold of the scripting we are going to see some amazing things. Just wait and see... How many of you like the RSRs and Resource Forks in the various Poser Files? I thought so ;-) Well, with the Pro Pack the RSR is GONE. In it's place are user editable graphic formats, and a choice of file compression on save. -JH.
Think of the possibilities?...taking non-zygote figures and turning them into Poser characters. We're talking Infomax figures, Mesh Factory figures, Ming's Toonshop figures, and many more. Think of all those great animals on the Dedicated Digital Animal CD. Think of all the wonderfully horrible monsters in FXRealm's Creature Creator...all as Poser characters! The Pro Pack takes the lid off the box! -SMT
I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

Hey, just a few comments. It has been tested with LW6.5 and we strongly advise that you upgrade if you are using 6.0.It's a free download. LW6.0 didn't correctly support UV mapping but with 6.5 your good to go. Also, and let me be clear, you are hosting a poser scene inside of LW with the Pro Pack, so YES, animation data is brought in, as are texture maps, props and the rest of the Poser scene. We're hoping that an entire Poser/Python community pops up around this. Let's call them Snake-Heads. :)The .rsr is no longer needed and for older Poser content, it's read in and a .png file is created which is entirely cross platform. The Setup room rocks. You can now bring in content from elsewhere and apply an existing bone structure, or create a new one. No more hierarchy files to create characters. One of the UI enhancements is the ability to view through up to 4 cameras at once. Hope this offers some insight. ThanksSounds like an immediate need for a PoserPro (nice term JeffH) Python utility that would run Snake-Scripts and flush out the Water Mocassins and Pit Vipers... Something like "Warning- running this script could cause major bad things to happen on your computer- YES NO CANCEL? WARNING- SnakeScript- use at your own risk. Written by a SnakeHead to cause all DNS Servers to explode into a ball of flames... (Yah, something to think about...)
Dammit, I ordered it last night at 11:30...I WANT IT RIGHT NOW!!! Steve or Trav, can you elaborate on the autoslicing thingy? I think I missed that part. If I imported, say a snake like mesh, can I insert several bones and make them bend without having to have several seperate segments? Just curious. I really look forward to having the pro-pack, but alas, I got no shipping confirmation yet....sniff....hint hint.. Davo
Watch out for snake bites! Still sounds like it might be out of my reach. The price of the propack may not sound like much for some, but it is a very major investment for me, as it a good part of my monthly income. (Being retired and on a fixed income sucks sometimes) Might have to wait to my investments come in. I have invested with Billy Roy "Bubba Da" Leroy. He put my money to work in Lotto tickets. butch

If you want to see it in action, follow this link to Craig Burton's site. It's a must have for character creators and modellers who would like to easily "poserize" their creations. amberi ordered it last night also i think the bones kick but but im pretty sure yo have to assign groups to them from the video i watched and you can adjust the joint in my opinion that is one of the best featuresthink how many steps and headaches you can skip i immagint they are backed up i live in the us and still havent recieved a delivery confromation =(

4.7 MB of PDF info- should answer some questions... Martial,I have found that its the countries where stuff is sent to that jack-up the shipping costs. The UPS and FedEX charges actually hide big VAT taxes that countries make these shippers charge as part of the shipping...This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Is the propack worth it? I don't have either of the two big software packages that the Propack is to link up with. Nor do I have the money to get it easily. It took a while to save up to get vickie and still haven't saved enough for michael yet. In other words, is the propack really for me, just using poser and bryce? Is there anything in that will make using poser easier or better. If there is how about a Propack Lite? For people who just have poser and are happy with it? Or can't afford the big guns of the 3D software packages? butch
