- Make sure NO other programs are running in the background ie Virus/ad/Zone alarm things of this nature. 3. NO surfing while working in Vue5. Yikes! That seems to warrant a service release REALLY soon! Having only one app running with 1 GIG of ram seems a real problem. Also, what of folks who have "always on" cable/DSL connections? Turning off virus and firewall programs are an accident waiting for a place to happen.
Add RAM. 1 Gig is nothing these days. I've got 4 G, Athlon64 3500+, and I have no problems importing pz3s into Vue5I, even if I leave Poser open at the same time. Disabling OpenGL also frees up a lot of RAM, especially if the Vue scene is getting complex. Saving out to .VOB is a very good idea indeed. I often import a single figure pz3, fix the materials, save as VOB, start a new scene, import next pz3, and so on. I composit the final scene from the saved VOBs. By the way, Vue 4.5 Pro has some memory bugs, it doesn't release memory when you start a new scene. Exiting and restarting helps. Vue5I also has some memory issues, but less severe than Vue 4.5 Pro. By the way, Vue 4.5 Pro incorrectly calculates free resources. Since Vue cannot use more than 2 GB of address space, free resources should be calculated with that 2 GB limit in mind. Vue5I calculates correctly.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
