Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Check in the FAQ up above, I believe there's a chart done by the good Dr. Geep that explains that. Failing that, if you have Winzip, open the file, then scroll over to the far right, and you should see the actual pathnames of the files and where they go. In theory, an unzip should automatically place things where they need to go, but not always does this happen..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

I just looked at one of the zips and would recommend extracting to a dummy folder first. Then you can locate the runtime folder, copy it and paste it to the poser folder. You will get a warning message that the runtime aleady exist go ahead and click OK. All of the files should be placed in the correct location.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
Folders are set up for either way (I believe..I didn't do the final packaging)...I probably over-organize my stuff, but I always install everything myself so I know where and what it is, and have lots of little runtimes. (and our 3dSC projects get their own separate ones on my end cause there's so much to keep organized) As long as the geometries folders are in the main runtime, you can put Libraries and textures wherever you like that works for you. I do know of one file that slipped through with an incorrect file path, the Fairytale Scene cr2 isn't pointed in the right direction...I'm going to see about getting an updated cr2 posted real soon...Admin team tried to catch everything, but with so much stuff we most probably didn't smash all the bugs. If anyone runs into anything else simply let me know so I can jump on the fixes. Realmling 3dSC Admin Genie

You have to download to a temp folder because I zipped the main folders for each zipfile, ie., fairytale01, fairytale02, etc. It looks like we'll have to find another place for our big downloads and if we do, I'll upload the zipfiles with the Runtime and 3dSC Readmes folders only so you will be able to extract directly to your Poser folder. The Runtime will ask if you want to replace and you'll say yes. Sorry about that, it was my mistake. If you already downloaded the files, do as I say in the first paragraph here. For the fairytale scene, I have uploaded an update on my personal website and I give the URL and details in the original thread for Fairytale Project. I found out later that the same problem occurred with the castle. I have fixed it in the main zipfile that I will probably upload elsewhere eventually, but I haven't uploaded it to my website because I don't have enough space, I am allowed only 5MB by my ISP. All you have to do to fix the problem is (IN YOUR TEMP FOLDER) to move the folder NeilP that is in the Geometries folder to Geometries:3dSC:Fairytale Project:NeilP The file points to the correct location but the location is incorrect ;o) As Realmling said, we tried to catch all errors but it was almost humanly impossible. Just to add my two cents, what i did was unzip them all to C:localdiscProgram filesCurious labs Poser 5 and when i went to tha folder it had (not inside the runtime) all the folders there so what i did was in each folder inside my runtime where the files needed to go i createda folder called FairyTale Project in textures and Geometries and used one of the folders named 3dsc in my character and pose files then manually transfered each file to the proper location, the only problem i have and to me e its not really a problem is finding the obj's for certain things occasionally Just one of the things that works for one of the ppl who downloaded this fabulous gift ^.^
i createda folder called FairyTale Project in textures and Geometries Mariana, you will have problems if you did what I think you did. Correct me if I misunderstood but I think what you did is Poser 5 Runtime Geometries FairyTale Project 3dSC Fairytale Project different folders for creators IF you did it like this, your cr2 files won't work because they will be looking for the object files in Poser 5 Runtime Geometries 3dSC Fairytale Project different folders for creators So it won't work for the few that are in the incorrect location and it won't work for the whole project.

I plan on installing all of Sara's files into their own runtime folder. I don't think she needs V3 files so a separate runtime should work?

Yes, it should work. I can't think of one file that requires something from another model's runtime. But even if you place all those files in a separate runtime, make sure you correct the location of the object file for NeilP's castle. And for the fairytale scene but I think you downloaded the update on my website earlier.

hehe nope france this is what i did Geometries FairyTaleProject I took everything out of the folders (the obj's) and placed them all inside that folder named FairyTale Project, sure i have to locate the obj but i dont mind :) and WOW does the fairy tale scene with sara some clothes, wings etc render quickly!!
Yes, but Mariana, if you do that with all the files you download, you will ALWAYS look for the object! It is NOT a good way of doing things. Do it if you like but I would not recommend this to anyone. ;o) When you have a runtime of +40GB you will regret having done that with many downloaded files.

If you kept the zipfiles, look at the folder tree for the geometries and textures folder. Place the object files in the appropriate subfolder of Geometries:3dSC:Fairytale Project: Place the textures in the appropriate subfolder of textures:3dSC:Fairytale Project: You won't have any problem if you do it that way. ;o)

Okay everyone, we solved our problem for this fairytale project. We still need good ideas for our current files and our future projects though. So keep them coming please! You can now download the Fairytale Project here:
http://www.jalberts.net/francemi/3dSC/fairytale.htm
There are 16 files and I have corrected all the mistakes (including that Sara White one) and included tralfaz' textures directly in the zipfile so there is no update.
Those of you who will download these files for the first time, if you find other errors, please let us know so we can correct them.
Thank you and ENJOY!

Great news sparrowheart!! We'll look forward to your arrival! The Forums should be back up sometime soon. Our Webmaster managed to arrange that with his usual style and grace, and as you can see, the project is available at the url listed in France's post above. Can't wait to greet any new arrivals at 3dSC who decide to come on over and pitch in! New folks are always welcome!
Someone told me one of the textures required for ParkerUnfolded's GodMom Castle textures was missing. I have uploaded a zipfile containing only that one texture for those who had downloaded the whole package before tonight. Also, those who have downloaded the package at the new location will have to fix something: I made a mistake and all the castle's textures are not in the correct location. If you go to the fairytale page at the new location, I explain what to do to fix this. Sorry about that. And Kimberly, you'll be welcome as soon as the website is up again you can send in your request for registration and will be accepted right away. France

Thank you both for your welcome to the team, France and macdubhgal! There is such a wonderful spirit of giving and sharing that I feel when I visit the website. I'd be a fool not to want to be part of something like that, and over time I am sure I will pick up new skills to contribute. Take care and have a great rest of the week!! Kimberly
Kimberly, the website is now online (NOT for downloads though!!). You can send in your registration request. I'm waiting for it! ;o) France

Just a quick clarification in case anybody is wondering. The download IS available through the link France provided above (...jalberts.net). They have been separated from the Forums and Main Site, which is ALSO now back online and available for visits and posting. We just ask that for the time being, Only posting take place (no pic uploads or anything like that) as our webhost has been kind enough to allow us access as long as we don't exceed our bandwidth limitation again this month. So- Long story short - Forums are open (in limited fashion) AND the Sara Fairytale Project is ALSO available for download at the new url. Thanks, and hope that clears up any misunderstanding. ;)
The fairytale project is available via 3dSaraCreations now without problems. All the links on the 3dSC Downloads page and on the Other Downloads page point to the zipfiles that are hosted on my website. So no problem, life goes on as usual and you can download from 3dSC again. France

I'm not to bright when it comes to placing files in their proper folders so, once I have unzipped the fairyland files, where do I extracted them to? If I extract them to the poser6 file ,will they go in the proper place or do I need to manually put them in the folders? skee the unsure
