Here is a link to a thread at PoserPros with the latest WIP pictures, a explanation of who she is and where she is going and (more importantly) some questions on how you feel about different ways she could be set up.

Looking good so far! I especially like what you did with her hips and her ribcage. One of the things I don't like about P6 Jessi is the feet, they seem overly large. Will Glamorous Jessi have smaller feet? And about P6 versus P4/PP/P5/P6: since the buyer will have to have the Jessi mesh, which only comes with P6, I don't think a P4/PP/P5 compatible version is very useful. I can't see a reason not to stick to P6 only. I'll definitely buy Glamorous Jessi when she's ready. She looks great, and she's very different from the ubiquitous V3.

Yep, makes no sense to make a P4/P5 version. I love the new knees. Much improved.

Thanks guys!- She actually has slightly bigger feet than originally, as I thought they were too small (the oposite of her hands), this is something I plan on looking at again, though. I want to make her about a size 7. I did do a ton of work reshaping her feet, I wanted to give her very pretty feet. They are rather narrower, too. ;-)

Thanks for the closeup. I think the G.J. feet are much more suitable for high heels, Original Jessi's feet look "splayed", very wide. Maybe G.J.'s index toe is a bit too long? I think the ankle has improved quite a bit too. Original Jessi looks like she sprained her ankles!

It (the index toe length) it partly the bend, she has inner and ouer "toes", I bent down the outer, which you can probably see now that I tell you what I did.

Fitting them in nice shoes was always a requirement, I did IV's and GV's feet the same way, modified the feet, then fitted them into a nice pair of heels. If they didn't fit the shoes something was either wrong with the shoes or the feet. ;-)

GJ's feet are hurtful to look at... they've been cramped in high-heels for too many years and are distorted because of it. That big toe? Ouch! REAL feet look like the ones Jessi already has: decent arch, decent ankles. I realize that you are going for a stylized look, but we do not come with pointed toes. That is as unnatural as the wasp-waists and broken backs of the Victorian era. Surely you can come up with a foot which would look pretty in sandals, and just make the toes invisible when cramped into heels? Carolly

pisaacs ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 5:40 AM

GJ foot looks like one of those alien feet. Tis a problem; maybe a foot fitting morph to go with the shoes.

a version for P5 might not be such a bad idea - P6 just crashed my entire computer, which is pretty hard for XP Pro, so am back to P5 until P6 gets a little more stable, and as one notes by seeing the number of dork char renders, there is an installed base that moves slowly to the new programs. just a thought.

The new Jessi does looks amazing. The new knees and calves looks very good, as do the vastly improved posing. :D There are a few things that strike me as odd however. Her hands were huge, but the new Jessi hands now look too small. Loosing that interesting muscle tone in back is disappointing, that was one thing unquie to Jesse. Her hips are very wide and soft now for an overall muscular and toned woman. And those feet. OUCH! She does look crippled, like she's been the victim of foot-binding. The shaved big toe is very distrubing. The new foot looks nice up until the long overly humped index toe and the bizarre pointed big toe. I've never seen a toe like that. It's unnatural. bB

FishNose ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 9:14 AM

Hmm... even though I like a narrow foot that fits well in high heels, those GJ's look a bit too narrow. And her toes look very long and skinny to me. :] Fish

Okay, I just talked to a woman I work with who was a foot model when she was younger. She's 59 now, men love her feet, she always wears pointed toe high heels, and can't tolerate wearing flat shoes because she's worn high heels her whole life. She even looks like a Jim Burton model! (albiet an older one) I told her about this thread and Jesse's new foot, and asked if I could look at her feet for comparison. I figure, she's the best example of a realistic pretty foot that wears pointed toe high heels.

She does have that classic "fan" shape to the toes leading up to the big toe. Each toe get slighty big the one before it leading up to the big toe. Her toes are as not as long the new Jesse toes. The index toe is not as humped as the new foot one, but it does a bit of a bump, and her big toe is the longest toe (not the index toe). Her big toe has a normal big toe look and her toenail is not a trapanoid shape. Her toenails are painted and longer either of the model's toenails. (I was surprised she can wear pointy toe heels and still have length on her toenails!) I wish I had my camera with me, I could take a picture of her feet for you.

Anyhoo, I asked her what she thought of the 2 model feet. Even she had an "ouch" reaction to the foot on the left. She suggested the right foot looked like a foot to her, but needed to be more narrow, the pinky toe curve in, and the big toe longer.

I'll see if I can find someone else with a camera and maybe get shot of her feet. :D

I have to agree with a lot of folks on this thread about the foot closeup. While I think it possible to narrow the original foot a bit, the GJ foot simply does not look like a human foot. If something that extreme is absolutely required in order to fit into open-toed high heel modeled shoes, at least make it the extreme of a dial-able morph. Or work on the shoes...

Gee, you guys are tough! I think some of what you didn't like was the pose and the angle of the render, here is another set, I sorta split the difference between GJ and stock Jessi's default, so they are at about the same angles. I did modify the mesh a tad also, the toe area is a little wider now. ;-)

FishNose ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 2:48 PM

Yes, looks better on the first pic. But on the third pic one can see how very long her toes are. :] Fish

Blowfish64 ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 5:00 PM

Just a thought, how would you feel about splitting your morphs up rather than having a full body morph? There are a lot of things you've done that I like, but a few I don't, as I've mentioned. Any chance you could make the morphs for individual body parts, so we can kind of pick and choose?

DCArt ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 6:28 PM

a version for P5 might not be such a bad idea Just a mention .. that probably won't be possible, because Jessi was made for Poser 6 and you would probably need the original OBJ to make Glamourous Jessi work.

nakamuram ( ) posted Thu, 05 May 2005 at 10:21 PM

Big improvement in the outside heel!! I think she needs a little more flesh in the inside heel, though. In pic 3, GJ's toes are too long. The change in width from the heel to the toes is too extreme.

Any chance you could make the morphs for individual body parts, so we can kind of pick and choose?" She isn't going to be a morph set, she is going to be a new OBJ file, fully stand alone once extracted (you will need the original Jessi to extract her, of course). A number of advantages to doing it that way, such as a smaller CR2, having the ERC work better (it works from the default shape, as many have found out in highly morphed Mike 3s), and have a "standard" that clothing can be fitted to. I also had to recut some of her joint edges and fix some minor problems in the mesh, so she no longer has compatability with Jessi body morphs, anyway. I am retaining head morph compatability (and textures too, of course), plus head morphs will work, I'm not doing much anything on her head, incidently. I really don't want to wind up with general purpose figure with lots of adjustability, that often doesn't fit clothing (beacuse of the adjustability), she is going to be a pinup. I will be providing some new body morphs, plus the injector morphs channels for others to use as they will. I think I am going to make one more pass through her feet mesh, in light of some of the comments, no MAJOR changes, though. ;-)

Rock on, Mr. B. ;) Say.... Speaking of M3 and why it's better to make a new obj instead of morphing..., think there'll be a chance you can work your magic on M3? His default shape is okay, he just doesn't pose very well. I've heard some talk of using ERC on shoulders to fix the pose problem all poser figures share. Would that work on M3? I must admit I'm envious of how well your new Jesse poses. :D bB

Jim Burton ( ) posted Sat, 07 May 2005 at 6:54 PM

Once I get Jessi fully rigged I'm going to try the same setup on other figures, and see how it work. Probbaly start with James, then go on to the DAZ figures. Have to see how it goes.
