Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 11:02 am)
Hi there, the rendering time problem with Aery's Short Hair is that they are composed of hundreds of different strands. This also mean there are many transparencies that need to be taken into consideration for the software and this is something that adds to the time. Are you trying to animate them into Poser? Regards, As Shanim & Siliphiel
Hi As Shanim again, I bothered you about this before, and sort of gave up on the hair I must admit even though I loved it and really wanted to use it; it took to much time to render. I am exporting the file to cinema 4d but welding whole thing as an .obj file and trying to do animation. Your hair has so much potential it is a pity I cant get it to work without huge render times. It really has to do with the texture files I believe. It renders in poser, but in C4d it is no go, I cant work totally in poser as it is not the most user friendly when it comes to cameras and lights, but I cant understand why your hair should be such a chore for it. I love your stuff and your new hair looks so I am so tempted but if I cant use it, it is just so damned frustrating. I realise you cant help everyone as there are so many programmes and what have you out there I just thought Id try again as every so often I look at your hair and go would it be lovely. By the by what has happened to it I cant find it anywhere on Renderosity?? Yours in admiration, rorsdors
Hi Rosdors,
actually we don't have C4D so we can't help with that program.
I don't know what kind of animation your going to do, if the character wearing the hair will be in close-up or not however if really the textures, or rather the transparencies, are the problem you might try avoiding using them.
They certainly add to the final result but since the hair is composed of strands they can also look good without the transparency (not the cap however), you might see if that shortens the rendering time. When it comes to transparencies Poser has some problems and the rendering time suffers, however the solution might work in Poser but I don't know about C4D, you might try asking in that forum.
Aery's Short Hair were removed from our store because we feel they need a make over, our newest hair "Ivy's Long Tails" was built with a similar technique so I guess the results would be the same, but it's just a guess. I just wanted to add, if you're using the hair in P5 or P6 remember to uncheck the rendering in raytracing option which really hung the system since it had to calculate the raytracing for all the hair strands.

Siliphiel

I have to agree with martial above that it is very good hair, just the rendering times. Im not sure what animation Im doing yet Im in the novice/experiment phase, and just kinda enjoying myself. It is very good hair and much easier to move about than other hairs on the market, they tend to be temperamental. Just that damn rendering time, you do something let it render for ages ,then realise that that bit just over there in that corner just isnt right and have to fiddle some more. I look forward to seeing the update, and getting around to getting your new hair and being aghast at its rendering times Im sure ;) Thanks for all the freebies on your site and wishing you much success.

I have the AeryShortHair and find the rendering time on it astronomical. I would love to use it in animation but find just the one render can go on even in the lowest settings. I am exporting the file into cinema 4d and working with the model there. Has anyone found this problem what this hair and a solution? Would love to hear about it if you have.
