THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: 2 questions: location of image & business

okay, I saw an image in one o fhte links here a couple of months ago. A man looking out of a latticed door at dusk, next to a fireplace. Lot's of great textures...Insperational. Does anyone here actually make a living at this? Seriously, I'm looking into this, I am an artist and I'd like to shuck the 9 to 5 of the Silicon Valley and consentrate on my art. Is it feasable with Digital Art? Okay there you go. If anyone can help with these two questions I'd be very gratefull.

I freelance. I will pimp out my art to anyone and everyone. I am a Systems Engineer and have been with the same company for almost 16 years now. I would also love to split the 9-5 gig. Its driving me nuts. I do art at night and on the weekends. Im always looking for projects to do. I've done about 4 paying art jobs in the last year. Kinda slow but I dont advertise. Its all been done by word of mouth. I also have a CD out for Ray Dream that has been doing pretty well. You can check out the CD at http://chawkins.home.mindspring.com under Products. Im trying. I hope one day to land the art gig that will pay my bills but havent found it yet. I would suggest part time..build up a good collection of your art and start looking for a company to hire you on. They all seem to be out west in California. Im in Georgia. Looks like a game company might be good to work for but the salaries seem to be pretty low. I gotta get $50k per year as a bare min or better before I can split my day gig. Anyway, I'll relax now.. ;) I hope that helps a bit. Clint - Ray Dreamers Forum.

Clint: that helps a lot. I know I have a lot of work to do. I keep thinking maybe we can think of something here on the forum ... a co-op so to speak. There is so much talent here and if the Buyers of such talent had access to it we could get somewhere, all of us. Just a thought. Any marketers out there interested in sharing your skills with us poor struggling artists? I figure we'd all win in the end. Just a thought.

I have been thinking about pulling some of the talent from the forums together to make add-on products for RDS, Bryce and Poser. I think there is a pretty good market out there. LordsWarrior has a Medival play set with props like chairs sword barrells tables and some pre made rooms. Its a awsome CD. My Shades of Reality CD is selling pretty well. Its steady. I was thinking one day we might pull all of these "Add-on" CD's together on one web site to maybe help with the sales. My BIG problem is I dont take credit cards, yet. I'm getting ready to hook up with a web site that does take credit cards but I have to sell my product at wholesale prices to them. I'm still looking into that. I'm always open to new ideas and thoughts about making money in this Digital Art industry. If you come up with some brain storms let me know and we can discuss. I can be reached at CHAwkins@MindSpring.COM Cheers, Clint

I'm working on a couple of projects myself. I'm opeing a metaphysical store on line in a few months and will be getting credit card access then. At that time we can se where else we can go. Combining talents does seem to be the way to go. Again with proper marketing ... but then that's down the road. I will keep in touch Clint thanks. Anyone else with any ideas ... hea it's worth a shot. Boni Struggling artist tired of the rat race of the Silicon Valley.

Metaphysical store! Sorry its a little off topic, but man that rocks! I'm a 18 year Pagan veteran.. :) Very very cool. Good luck with the store! Blessed be. Clint PS - Let me know when that store goes live. I can get a lot of my friends to hook up and purchase once it comes up.

Clint: I'm glad to see someone excited ... it's still in it's planning stages. It's more healing and herbal than pagan, my partner has issues...but the end result will essentially be the same. Crystal bags, candles, ceramics, healing herbs, artwork, recipe books. that sort of thing. All original. No reselling. E-mail me if you get a chance so I can see how lucritive this might be. I don't want to waste this wonderful forum's space on commercialism. :) Boni
