Well - it seems that the D.S. is starting to grow on me - sort of like a fungus?!? I do like the bells/whistles - and it is more functional on my system then Poser Pro Pack has been in the past. A few things still bewildering though - such as the effect of shadow/bias/softening on point/spot/distant lighting, as well as the illumination setting tweaks. If any tutorials ever surface - please advise in this forum?!?

I agree with you. I had Poser Pro for about a year and this week I found DAZ ( going to upgrade Bryce) and I've done more in one week with DAZ/S than all year with Poser. I've done enough to realy start to be confused!

One thing in regards to Poser vs Bryce - I like Bryce for exteriors and technical models. However, the transparencies and accompanying maps used when importing the more detailed Poser items still escape me. I still enjoy Bryce 5 and will continue to utilize it for these items.

In DAZ I see that people can get realistic looking hair, like yours. How do you do that? Mine looks so fake. To make the above I used each DAZ/S item seperately the imported to Bryce then put in lighting. I have a problem making complex sets in DAZ/S which is better than I was in Poser where I had problems in just making a person. Sorry if my rambling is so beginner but like I said this is still my first week in DAZ/S. Boy I agree please let us all know of tutorials. Maybe I'll someday learn poser which seems to do more in animation. But what do I know.

There should be a transparency map on the hair. If you use Bryce 5 you can get the TurboImporter which enables Bryce to read the transmap information from an .obj exported from D|S. Bryce 5,5 can open D|S as a "plug-in" and read the figure in from there. Or you can look at the settings on the hair in D|S (Window>Surfaces) and set the transparency by hand in Bryce.

Thanks, I'll play with it. Do you know anything about DAZ'z Mimic?

Keep in mind the image I posted earlier is a DAZ studio image. I am posting an image that I imported Poser files into Bryce - however, the hair and other files do not have transparent factors built in. This image has an anime or 2D hair type - and I have yet to master the trans map features while importing Poser files into Bryce. I will look into the Turbo Importer though - thanks RHaseltine for the tip!

Attached Link: http://www.petersharpe.com/Tutorials.htm

The trouble with victoria tutorial (at the link) tells you how to apply eyelash transmaps in bryce, applying the hair transmaps is exactly the same. You can download a pdf version of the tutorial or read it online.
