Before I was working, I did pretty much nothing but Bryce and built up a backlog of pictures to post. Now, not so much time. :-( I'd say I shift between Makers: 1 & 2 and frequency: 1 & 2 and maybe all three of the community. Somtimes talk a lot and sometimes don't.

Still being new to Bryce I'm probably a scene maker, a casual dabbler and a talker :) Hope to be more than that when I learn more... though never professional, I'm afraid.

I'm a thingie making, scene creating, serious hobbyist, who talks and talks and talks - with a problem. I ain't much good! Except at talking!

Can I be all three in all three categories? :P I wouldnt opt for the professional one except for the completely un-freaken-real response to the bryce 5.5 dvd. I never dreamed so many would be distributed in only 1.5 weeks...but it alone covers all three in all three categories. I did notice that the "purist" is left out of this observation. However, "purists" are few and far between any more. I guess really the only two I ever knew was bill munns and debbie. ;) great observation! BT
What is a Bryce Purist?? Btw, in my opinion a professional is, among the other things mentioned, someone who is seriously good at what he/she does, not necessarily making a living of it.

What is a Bryce Purist?? one that sticks with the corel version?

some free stuff i made
and
for almost daily fotos
As I stated above, the list is open for new catagories. Hadn't thought of purists. @BT I've been to your site BT and I'll agree with your assessment of yourself. You are definately all of the above. BTW your site still says "DAZ buys Bryce". That's old new buddy. This observation came about while I was perusing the Bryce galleries and noticed the most prolific contibutors rarely ever chime in here at the forum. So, I figured, instead of flapping their e-gums, their actually working on stuff. While the rest of us pontificate upon issues Bryce.

lol I don't own "brycetech.com" any more...DAZ bought it just after they bought bryce. See, I was thinking about shutting the site down and since it had so many tutorials, DAZ wanted to keep it alive as a knowledge base for Brycers...sooo...they bought it :) they are supposed to be making a new entry page for it with the release of b5.5. Not sure why it hasnt been done yet... oh..bryce purists are people who only use bryce for their render..that means the textures, the models...everything is 100% bryce. I think that probably bill munns was the hardest core because he actually rendered the images he used as textures in bryce before he'd apply them as textures. Others woulda just make the map in photoshop or similar. debbie changed over time, her last picture actually had a lot of poser models and imports...true purists dont do that. but, purists are a dying (or perhaps extinct) breed :) BT
Hi, Foleypro! :) btw, I actually decided to read all of the posts this time around and saw the second definition of "professional" -- that being "really good at it." Um. Not sure if I'm at that level. I meant that I'm a casual professional in the sense that I get paid for my Bryce work. I'm still in total awe by the work you guys do. :)
I'm a scene-maker who is a serious hobbyist but makes money from prints of my Bryce work. As far as community, I'm a reader. I read 99% of the posts here, but rarely comment (except for this annoying habit of posting one of my images in response to a thread). Most people here probably have no clue who I am. ;-)
My goal is to be a purist... But I am only a thingie and scene maker My goal is to be a professional... But I am only a seriuous hobbist my goal is to be a contributor... but I am only an agitator. Bandolin: you forgot that it does not matter in which category you are.. you've been a H20 ranter at least one time! p.s. Your observation about the most prolific contributors in the gallery is correct, but (according to me) they are a sect not interested in Bryce but interested in congratulating theyselves.
I think I'm a... Maker: 1,2, and possibly 3 depending on how you define a "stage for poser figures" Frequency: Serious Hobbyist Community: More a talker in chat than any of the other options

i would consider myself a Bryce Purist, 90% of my modelling is Boolien or terrians, and since i've figured how to play the DTE lottery thats where textures comefrom too. i rarely 'Postwork' so what you see is what you get, out of the Bryce Box. I wish i could contribute more to the forumn but i gotta work for the man. But whatever way you make it...enjoy it!

I would say I am a thingie maker then a scene maker. A serious hobbiest. I try to be helpful and give good answers to people. How abotu die hard Brycers those that have been using it for 10 years. (Yes I started with Bryce 1.0 in 95. I took a few years off to play guitar and have soem beer. Now nooone likes the sort of music I like so back to Bryce.

@vasquez Moi, an H20 ranter? :-O I am shocked, shocked I tell you of being accused of such a thing. You must have me confused with someone else. ;-)

I'd share more of my models but for two things, one - no web page (and no desire to have one - sorry!) and a good chunk of them are for my 'rotica works (I tend to model when I can't find what I need elsewhere (ok, I'm lazy like that) or I want a quality better than available in freebie form).
Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
Definately a Purist!...sort of........

Oh, I might need to change categories, I think I'm more of a: have-a-great-idea, fling-some-bits-together, cry-a-bit, post-anyway-and-scream-for-help, type.

Well... I do seem to do rather a lot of pathetically moaning at people who are kind enough to try (and the operative word here IS "try") to impart some of their cleverness to me.

(Caution: do not take seriously) I've identified 3 kinds of Brycers in 3 separate catagories. Makers: 1) Thingie makers (those that make things and objects, not necessarily in Bryce) 2) Scene makers (those that create scenes in which thingies are used) 3) Poser-bryceans (those who use bryce as a stage for their poser figures) Frequency: 1) The casual dabbler 2) The serious hobbist 3) The professional Community: 1) Talker (those that post alot in the forum) 2) Do-er (those that rarely or never post but make tons of stuff) 3) Contributor (those that make stuff and help out those who don't) I'm a Scene-making dabbler that Talks alot. I just checked out BS58's gallery. This guy produces a complex Bryce scene almost every 7-9 days! Wow. He must be drinkin' lost of coffee. I couldn't accomplish that even if I worked 24/7. Add more catagories if you'd like, I've deliberately left it open.
