my art teacher, who also works in bryce, poser, and photoshop, wants to creat a website featuring his and mine and any elses art work. also he wants to be able to sell the items up on the site. so what i ask is: how / what do i do to make a website (free) that will allow me to take credit cards and or pay pal? and do any of you know a online render thingy, so i dont have to render my images? also do you all know of a good, cheap, and realible printing company online?

Online render thingy? I don't know what you're asking. As for making a web site that accepts PayPal, if you have a PayPal account, they offer you a way to create a shopping cart -- all you have to do is put a mix of javascript and HTML code on whatever page you want to display the "product". I think you have to have a Premiere or Verified account with them, though. I'm not entirely sure. PayPal has a section on their site that walks you through it step by step.

with renderthingy you mean a renderfarm? a set of someone elses computers that will render your image for you? Such a thing is called a renderfarm, and they're not exactly free to hire.. you could google for it, but i think you'll find it's cheaper to render on your own. Lycos has pretty good hosting prices and comes with an extra option for using an eShop which is quite cheap. aprilgem's PayPal thing is probably cheaper though. Yahoo's hosting prices are higher then lycos' but offers better value for money when it comes to storage and traffic and claims to come with easy paypal integration. Free hosting often runs outta bandwidth, I think if you're gunna go and really run a serious website you'll want to have a decent hosting package. I mean, what good is a store if it's down 90% of the time? There's many online stores that help you print and sell your images. have a look out there. there's some big ones that look quite professional. Zazzle.com for instance looks to be very good.

oh, btw, if you're gunna be putting quite a bit of pictures and such on there you might want to consider going with a dynamic site, something with php/mysql probably. If you use those you'll have to make sure your hosting package offers php/mysql support.

Also, you can sell your artwork and models/props/textures here on Renderosity, although I haven't for the life of me been able to figure out how. But I've seen others doing it, so I know it can be done! I'm putting a bunch of my medieval weapon models up on Xero-web.net, along with a good friend of mine Lygher_Xero. We'd like to get on here at Renderosity, too, but I've no idea how to do such a thing...
