Hi all i don't know why this happened, i just updated yesterday to 5.06, the update in the e-on software( before this i had my regular Vue 5 Infinite that came with my box, was never updated) and guess what? when i import Poser characters, i get weeeeird texture colors. It's messed up!! why is this .. can anyone help?? what kind of update is thisssss

I'll take a guess, your character has shiny reflective materials on him that import with the reflections too high. In vue in the reflection tab turn the reflection setting down for each reflective material.

I'm using update 5.06-2, build 276505...no texture problems like your image. Are you using materials with reflections or reflection maps in Poser? Sometimes they translate a bit strangely into Vue, you might need to adjust the reflectivity a bit.

Have you checked the highloght color and especially intensity? Another well known problem. That Poser has a strange way of sealing with hightlight color (black) and to balance that out makes it very strong. Tone those down and i am sure...

Well the deal is When i had my Vue 5 Infinite, that came out of the box without this update.. I had awesome normal renders, it's just after this update that everything got messed up

With all Poser objects? And especially the same as you have imported before? Strange that neither i have it nor others seem to have that.

Yes, exactly.. i'm just importing Michael 3, victoria 3, which worked fine before this update... now what i get when i import them, is the texture preview on the right side square changes to kind of a transparent one...and then when the character appears in the lower square preview, it looks like the thing in the picture i put above. But well, maybee....perhaps i changed something ...because just yesterday( which is after the update) i was messing around with changing the atmosphere to the "environment" option, and then i loaded some of my image to use as a background.. although is weird how that messing around would cause problems witth poser characters.. My solution: i will today reinstall Vue 5 Infinite^__^ and perhaps stay away from the 5.06 update.. or maybe try it. thanks

You don't have to reinstall. Just revert to previous installation, from the menu.

I did already... and guess what?? now My Vue got crazzy... i'm trying to open some Poser files that i made, and even though my Vue is Vue 5 Infintie...it says "unable to open ???Vue5Esprit/fdfdjkfd/ etc/etc" what the.... This is what i've noted with Vue.. it seems to remember where i created the files...so in the above . it was a folder &&&Vue5Esprit/..which i now positioned in another place. so it cannot find it and it's crying.. Why does vue depend so much on where files are.. i mean, like poser files are openable most places( at least the PZ3) well, let me check if it works by putting the folder where it was before.

Hey guys i'm back, the thing i said just above, actually may not be the problem.. It's just saying "cannot open the so and so files at so and so location..." which is dumb... and i have Poser 5 selected, which is the one i haev.. so why not work maybe i'll restart my comp

wabe ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 8:26 AM

Ok, i have imported Poser 6 files half of the day. AND - i had one case as tropob described. The global reflectivity of all materials was set to 100%. I toned them down manually to 0 and all was fine. I think it is a specific material setting in some Poser objects.

Ohhh i see wabe.. That sounds like a solution i could try.. except now my Vue 5 Infintine, doesn't recognize poser 5 files at all. even after i threew everything away, and reinstalled Vue 5 a few times already

I did a little more research now - about a material that came wrongly into Infinite. Interesting what i saw there - i enclose a screenshot of this part of the pz3-file. I have reported that already to e-on. Let's see what they will answer. BTW, when i see all those questions and problems people do have with Vue and Poser - especially the newbies - i want to propose a thread "Background for dummies." To explain things like "what is a transmap?" "How are files linked to each other? pz3 and obj and/texture maps for example." To name only two.

wabe - interesting suggestion. Maybe I could open a new section in the backroom like 'Newbies - read first' :)

Yeah agiel, that would be cool! I propose that i will write one word or two for it.
