I got my lighting setup tonight. It is a Impact Tungsten lighting setup. 2 - 500 watt lights with 12" reflectors. 1 - 250 watt light with a 5" "spot" reflector. 3 stands, 2 umbrellas and a boom arm. The umbrella brackets can also be used to hold flash units with a hot shoe connector. I did a few exercises from the NYI course and some portrait practice with Glenda. Here are the results, let me know what you think. The dummy that I am, I still had the ISO at 3200, from Graduation. So I ran these through Noise Njina. sp? Your critique is appreciated.

I love the bread shot....also the lighting on Glenda is surrounding her perfectly.

these are great randy!!
the apple is my fave,
the bread looks a bit too bright on the one piece,
subtle variance in the 2 wines,
interesting to see how a little adjustment in light will make a diff
& a lovely lit portrait of "Daddy's Little Girl" :D

exciting, i'm sure... how bout a shot of the lighting setup itself now,
been awhile since we've seen one posted here:]

Cool photos..esp. like the last wine one...Contrats on your new lights. I wonder if you could also use them for a small indoor tomato farm or something. :-)

Doug - The bread shot is my favorite. Kim - Well she is pretty and she is sweet (most of the time). Thanks! cynlee - Thanks! Dully noted on the blown out light on the bread. It was interesting to see how slight movement in the light can change a photo, such as the 2 wine shots. For these shots the lighting was very simple. The Apple had one of the 500 watt lights at almost 90 degree angle, with a reflector bouncing light back into the shadow side of the apple. Glenda held a Black piece of poster board on the side of the light to create the shadow line behind the apple. (Barn doors would be nice for that) The bread was side lit with no reflectors to bring out the texture of the bread. Again Glenda held poster board to create the shadow line. The wine glass was still just one light at 45 degrees, but the light was tilted up slightly then, Glenda held the poster board under the light to put the glass itself in the shadow. This kept the glass from having bright hot spots, and let the white background reflect light through the wine. I will try and get a shot of the setup tonight. coolj001 - Thanks! I am sure you could grow some lovely tomatoes under these lights! And make great photographs of their progress.

I definitely prefer the apple shot!! The bread shot is too bright for my taste too and the details are lost in the highlights on the piece of bread on the right! I love ur wife's portrait, really beautiful shot. Great experiments u did here Randy! Always fascinating to see the results!

This is some great stuff RANDY! Love how the wine glasses seem to be FLOATING in air...grounded just enuff by that slight reflection.

The apple...WHOA...are you using some type of "Stage" for this one? I'm really interested to know as I'm tryin to set up "somethin" down in my basement!

Thx in advance!
