I'll be posting in the local stores, vet, supermarket for her owners, I can't believe she's a stray, she's in excellent condition. And if no one claims her in thirty days she's ours I guess, any suggestions for a name?

looks like a cross between a huskey and a german sheppard, but then again i don't know anything about dogs. call her highway? drac (not in a very creative mood. but she's still cute)

I am no expert but my best guess is a Malamute. Possibly a mix of Sheperd and Husky. Nice lookignodg by the way. I miss having a dog around.

She basically looks a bit like a huskie or a malamut to me. But she doesn't have the fluffier fur of a huskie nor she has the uniform blackish/grayish fur colour. That combination of colours of the fur makes me say is she's a mongrel. Looks cute, though. How about Raina for the name? It's a she-werewolf in a novel. :-)

Or the Rayne like from the video-game ??? :D I used to have huskey/german sheperd mix (50/50), close to it but it is not, looks more like 75 % sheperd 25% huskey :) Cute doggie, Zhann ! :D

Nice Pup, Yeah I agree with the mix, & the purple tongue could be Chow in there too.

That's a mix? Looks like a purebred Belgian Shepherd (malinois, IINW) to me.

If its part Husky, you're in for a busy life. They are very active dogs and don't like to be penned in.

I would say she's definitely husky/shepherd mix. She looks to have the body structure of a husky,and the ears of a shepherd. We have a purebred GSD. Good luck with her, their "puppydom" lasts from 2-3 years and they are very intelligent, which means mischief. Our dog goes as far as trying to figure out how to get off her leash, and eats woodchips and mulch for fun.

Shes beautiful! Nice shiny coat on her, Zhann you brushed her? The color shading is interesting also. Her ears are up. My understanding is that this is something thats supposed to occur after six monthsanybody know for sure? She seems to look within her first year. Nice looking, what seems like baby fur, under her belly. And her teeth are white. Somehow Im sure youre going to keep her until otherwise noted. LOLlooks like some ancestors were out chasing cars and their front sides got splattered with mud almost as if her front side was tainted. Shes a beaut! The right photo glares off her eye, or so it seems, but have her eyes checked nevertheless, very nice looking animal. Good luck naming her.

Thanks Bandolin for the link, seems she most closely matches the Canaan Dog, face mask, coloration, size etc. are all in there, except the curled tail, so maybe not a purebred. @Quest, all our dogs have brite white teeth, they get rawhide chips to chew on, the Vet said he'd never seen really great white teeth in a dog as old as Jax(5years)

As for names, I'd hate to name her then have to give her up, but I can't keep yelling 'puppy stop that', we were thinking of a mythological name maybe, Athena, Freya, or Galetea. Then again maybe after a Native American tribe, Lakota, Cheyenne, Pawnee, Cherokee, BarksatCats, Sleepsinaball, Maskedmischeif, Chasestail......

LOLI was just re-reading your post and realized that the four last Native American tribal names you give her implies the animals behavior in some way and may be the reason why she got cut lose, if indeed she was.

Well, we found the 'owners', they didn't want her, said she was too hard to control so they cut her loose outside....GD people, if you take a pet they become your responsibility and are not 'disposable' just because you don't have the time, or they grow up from cute and cuddly to normal cats and dogs, I swear, there's a place for these typs of people and they can't get there fast enough for me....:

So she's staying with us, and I decided, because I'm an artist, and I like the name, to call her 'Sienna', it has a nice flow, suits the dog, and I can make it carry a couple of miles if I use the 'voice'.....

I love the name Sienna as well, its definately her. That is horrible that people would knowingly just let an animal go to fend for itself. Some states have laws against that. Its so wrong. I'm so glad she ended up with you :-D she'll have a good home for sure.

(Steps up on soapbox) Living in the country as I do, I've had so many cats and dogs "dropped" on me, I've lost count. I really couldn't tell you how many animals I've placed with friends and family or taken to the animal shelter (we can't take care of them all). Several, including the last one, I've taken to the veterinarian where the animals turned out to be so ill or injured they had to be put to sleep. I've seen so many others dropped in the middle of nowhere where they are killed by cars, or injured by other territorial pets. Why is it so many people are so ignorant? How can you not know that unwanted pets can be taken to animal shelters, (some of which are privately owned and do not euthanize) which costs nothing? Maybe they think you have to pay to leave animals there. And people should have pets neutered unless they are professional breeders. (Steps down from soapbox)

I totally agree, but tjohn, I've found living in this state especially, that it's too much trouble to put yourself out and go to a shelter with an unwanted animal. Here hundreds of dogs a year are just left to fend for themselves....People come here to ski and everyone has a dog so they have to have one to fit in, come end of the season those animals are left without a second thought as to what will happen to them, they're disposable.....and the comment I hear most is 'they are animals, they can survive on their own', which is BULLSH*T, pardon my french.... Right now I'm working with the local shelter to cut down on the stray/feral cat population...I receive funds to trap, and spay or neuter the cats I catch. Of course I release them back into the neighborhood and keep tabs on who's who, who's new and who's pregnant...we don't have the rampant field mouse problem that we used too, so they do fulfill a function and most are feral anyway so can't be given as pets, but I've made a large inroad on how many kittens you see homeless around our subdivision. And, if I trap it, it gets fixed, even if it belongs to someone in the neighborhood..... I had a guy pound on the door, asking if I was the one trapping pets...He was pissed cause his tom cat came home and had been snipped, talk about verbal abuse, I explained that I had support from local authorities to trap the animals that came into my yard, and that he was irresponsible pet owner for allowing his pet to contribute to the already out of hand feral feline population, and if he didn't want a ticket or to go to jail, to get off my front porch. This type of guy is the same one, at Town meetings, that bitches about the strays and how they'rs tearing up his yard or yowling at all times of the night... The animals can't do anything about what happens to them, we're the ones with the so called 'brains', too bad not everyone chooses to use what God gave them. We're here on earth as stewards, to take care of it, not as overlords to destroy it....off my soapbox now
