Subject: YATMP: Yet Another Texture Mapping Problem

I have a jpg texture on a cube. It looks OK in preview but it`s strange on actual object. I tried scaling it using tkey but it didn`t improve. Actually it seems to be 1:1 with the cube when I saw the dashed line during scaling. What`s the problem? PS. Texture is quite big, is 512x512 pixels (wood02 from Noctua Graphics).

PS. I thought it wa s a problem with cube proportions, but the rendered tex seems somewheat repeatedly malformed, not just stretched. Also I tried several ways of mapping it, it should show if it was stretched, but the effect did not change at all.

Check if the button "Map to Cube" is pressed.

I tried these 4 mapping options as well as the size fields. I post here because it didn`t make any reasonable result. Looking fwd, Silgrin :/

Is that a cube or a plane that you have it mapped too? I made up this quick example in a minute or two with a jpeg randomly downloaded off the web. What it looks like is that the texture map on your object isn't mapping to the correct axis. Brian

It was a very flat cube. I think I used cubic mapping, so the axis shouldnt matter, I hope... Your cube is a bit strange. What did you do to it before texturing? It doesnt look like Space->Add->Cube and then texturing. Maybe this STH is the key?

I just beveled and smoothed the cube. Nothing exciting. Brian

Smoothed or subdivided? When I smoothed objects, their edges remained sharp and only interior looked smooth.

Reread my post. I beveled the cube:) If you'd like send me the file you are having problems with to brian @ vizualds.com and I can fix it so you can inspect. Brian
