Subject: Poser into Carrara

Attached Link: How do I get a poser figure into a Carrara set up?

Is there a simple tutorial or is there just a simple set of "how to" intstructions way to save a poser 6 figure and export it so that it can be imported into Carrara 4 and maintain the great skin tones and clothing textures? The manual is confusing on the issue to me. I am an old hand at Carrara, but have just purchased Poser 6. and don't know squat about it. I work on a Mac in OS 10.3.8 Simple is good, because the manual is not to this user, user friendly. By the way, I work on illustrations that are not animated, Thanks, any help is welcome, Vern

I did a tutorial a while back, but it was for P4 and C3. Im sure there may be some differences in the materials, but it might be a place to start. Regards. E

Thanks echo871, this is a great looking tutorial. Like vernonglen, I don't know much about Poser. I've had P4 in the box for ages, but just haven't gotten to it. Too busy in Carrara making models. Now it's time to add some characters. I may not need Transposer [assuming that I bring Poser characters over one at a time.] I especially like the way you marked up the screen captures. [lots of work there.]

Thank you, The tutorial you linked me to worked perfectly. Pat yourself on the back. I can't believe how great Poser looks in Carrara. And it was not all that tough to find the textures, well, that could be made easier I suppose. But I am a happy camper. Vern

Good, glad I could help. I didnt know how much tweaking was needed to make the adjustment to P5 and/or P6 materials. Judging from your response, not much. I do recommend getting the transposer plugin once its ready for P6 as it will save a ton of time. But it is handy to know how to do it the hard way so that if you want to make adjustments to materials, you know what you are looking at in the material room. regards, E

thanks for the old tutorial, echo. I recall it's the same way I used to do it for P4 and C1/2. did they have C3 in 2003?

well, anyway, I tried to go to vernon's tutorial, but the url
http://studiogp@teleport.com
is a non-standard syntax, and netscape says "teleport.com not found".
