Here's the fixes mentioned in the readme. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ENHANCEMENTS AND BUG FIXES IN SERVICE RELEASE 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ General Rendering ----------------- - At render time, textures are now pre-sorted prior to loading in order to optimize memory allocation - Improved logic for not loading unused textures at render time - Poser now attempts to reduce memory fragmentation before and after rendering - Fixed tiled image map rendering problem - Now bypassing QuickTime for loading images if possible to save texture memory at render time FireFly Render Engine --------------------- - Now offering configuration options in General Preferences for adaptive bucket size - Fixed slowness on computing raytraced Refraction - Improved Refraction quality - Rendered image now lines up better with output from Preview and Poser 4 renderer - Poser will not attempt to render any more when the DoF focus distance is set to 0 Poser 4 Render engine --------------------- - Corrected lighting mismatch between Poser 6 and earlier Poser versions - Fixed case were mixing cartoon preview style with texture shaded preview caused memory corruption on rendering - Fixed case where failed texture loading would cause crash during rendering - Fixed case where artifact would occur at certain camera position - Fixed crash when rendering in Poser 4 engine after rendering in FireFly with texture filtering on Preview Render Engine --------------------- - Enabled more accurate picking for objects deformed through cloth simulation (OpenGL only) - Fixed crash when extending selection rectangle of Grouping tool below botton of document window - Fixed crash when picking material in certain display modes (SreeD, Mac OS X only) - Fixed crash on switching Preview render engine to SreeD (Mac OS X Tiger only) - Fixed crash on Actor selection (Mac OS X Tiger only) - Face, Hand and Posing cameras now move on to next figure once the current one is deleted - Direct Manipulation tool now displaying correctly when operating on scaled body part - 'Show Intersections' now works when previewing in Wireframe or Hidden Line display mode - Fixed condition where collision detection would revert to last pose - Attempt to better approximate rendered result in preview of point lights (OpenGL only, this cannot be perfect since OpenGL and Poser use different models for falloff of light intensity) File I/O -------- - Now storing folder last PZ3/PZZ was opened from in preferences file - Dynamic cache files are now cross platform compatible even for large objects - Fixed case where application wasn't prompting to save a changed scene on quit - Render Cache files are not accidentially deleted any more - Improved sort order of search paths to find geometry files in current runtime first - Improved automatic file name conversion on texture search - Importing large 3DS models doesn't disable menus any more - Exporting large LW5 models doesn't disable menus any more - No longer writing control props into BVH files - Fixed crash on importing large scene into another External Binary Morph Targets ----------------------------- - Reduced memory needs when loading morphs from PMD - Now sharing morph targets in memory when more than one figure/object in a scene are using the same PMD file - Binary morph targets now supported when adding figure set with conforming clothing to library - Fixed data loss on saving certain scenes - Fixed reading of binary morph targets - Improved stability of external binary morph targets to avoid data loss on saving props - Fixed case when binary morph targets were wasting disk space (Mac OS X only) Library ------- - Improved handling of non-standard sized thumbnails, available space now used more efficiently - Now showing message 'Loading' on adding items to a scene - 'Set name' dialog now stays on top - Fixed crash on switching IBL lightsets (Mac OS X only) - Runtime folders with large amount of subfolders do not disable popup menus any more (Mac OS X only) Animation --------- - Improved responsiveness and performance of Animation palette - Now allowing to paste keyframes across multiple figures Walk Designer ------------- - Improved Walk Designer launch time by avoiding unnecessary texture search - Fixed Walk Designer problem where changing end frame would cause figure to leave walk path - Walk Path Drawing doesn't show extra lines any more Material Room ------------- - Fixed text input problem for bump strength in simple material view - Added Normals_Forward option on Poser surface node to reduce shading artifacts on double-sided polygons - Enabled material picking for HiddenLine, Wireframe, Outline, and Silhouette display modes - Material palette now updates when light set with Image Based Light is added from Library Face Room --------- - Corrected problem in Ethnicity texture database for Jessi - Updated transparency maps for texture blending for James - Enabled undo for interactive face sculpting Hair Room --------- - Improved accuracy of Hair Style tools selection - Last frame of hair simulation now properly read from saved file - Dynamic hair shader color is not set to black on loading any more (Mac OS X only) Cloth Room ---------- - Now possible to clothify two actors with the same name on several figures - Now recovering better from failed cloth simulation - Cloth simulation frame number and computation time now shown on progress bar - Fixed problem on loading clothified prop with blanks in name - Cloth simulation preview now more accurate (Mac OS X only) - Fixed cloth simulation preview problem after reloading scene with multiple simulations - Now obeying 'Ignore hand collisions' flag properly (Mac OS X only) - Now obeying 'Ignore feet collisions' flag properly (Mac OS X only) - Hitting ESC does not continue the cloth simulation while discarding the progress bar dialog any more Python ------ - The Python interface has been adjusted to allow saving the rendered image selected on the Main Render image list. Unless the user changes the selection, this will be the last rendered image. - Added 'Collect Scene Inventory' script to 'Utility Funcs' section. This script has to be used in compliance with the EULA on page 9 of the Poser 6 Reference Manual. - Fixed crash on attempting to delete CenterOfMass control prop - Fixed crash when script tried to open several modal dialogs shortly after each other (Mac OS X only) Morphing Tool ------------- - Morphing tool not disabled after saving scene any more Misc ---- - Fixed memory corruption after deleting conforming figures - Render tab on document window: Clicking once on the scrolling hand icon does not return to Preview tab any more - Main menu bar stays always active now - Main menu shortcuts (e.g. ALT-F for File menu) now working properly on Document window and Parameter, Properties, Library, Python, Joint Editor, Walk Designer and Material palettes - Improved persistence of palette states on reverting to saved document - Hierarchy Editor text field does not accept only numbers any more - Enabled mouse wheel support for Library, Walk Designer, Parameter palette (Mac OS X only) - Playing QuickTime movie does not cause Hierarchy Editor to lose its resize handle any more (Mac OS X only) - Fixed system color picker button on Poser color picker - Now always forcing document window to be on screen

I suppose that "soon" meant "soon" after all.......
I'll have to wait until late tonight to download this and try it out.
Thanks to EF (formerly CL) for getting the first service release out to the user base.
Ya done good.
I'll reserve judgement on the effectiveness of it all until after I've had a chance to work with SR1 for a while.
This makes me happy.
Now we can all start whining/making legitimate complaints (depending upon approach & attitude) about SR2!!!!!!!!
Wonderful!!!
Thanks again.
Ya'll must be blinking painfully in the sunlight -- after living in a cave for the last few months.
You'll probably need to use sunblock for a while.
The first time I clicked on the link I saw the update. Tried to download. Access denied. Registered. Tried again. No update. I wish those morons would learn how to code a frikkin' website properly. I'll tell you right now, it doesn't matter when or if they come out with Poser 7. 6 is gonna be the last version I ever buy. I'm done with those idiots. Kate the Fed Up Consumer
Hi guys, It's being staged now through our web people and tested for download. Some of you snuck in there at the most opportune time. Anyways it will be up soon and we'll make an announcement on the site and I'll post here to let you know it's all ready to go.
Thanks again.
EFSteve (I was just getting used to CLSteve) :)

Oh, well.....that's what a non-official announcement will do for you.......
Thanks anyway, EFSteve.
At least we've had tangible evidence of SR1's existence.
I should have snuck when others sneaked......
;)
he he... me got it.. the rest of you will get it 'soon' ROFLM
You've gotten the untested version.
Maybe it'll crash your hard drive for you.......
Hee Hee Hee........
Ah, that would explain it. Only see the Content updaters in there ATM. BTW - I understand the desire to prevent piracy by requiring a serial # and all if one isn't already registered with the CP site, but what of us who prefer to suck down files on a fat, juicy fiber connection @ work (w/ permission of course), instead of a slower home connection? Run home and get the serial #? /P
I am not sure where you found that SR1 but on EFs site is nothing about the SR1, only a link to the Content Updater and on Content Paradise is nothing either.
Ummm ... maybe it's a game and they test my intelligence. Maybe I am only eligible to get the updater when I am able to find the hidden files?
And I wish they would stop putting the objects of their freebies into the character folder. I wonder if they forgot that P5 and P6 allow subfolders and when I stuff it where I want to have it I have to edit the object and texture path each time >:(

Run home and get the serial #? That's what I am probably going to have to do. That's OK. DSL at the office, cable at home. I don't have Poser here anyway, so it doesn't matter. It'll take maybe a little over a minute to download 24megs at home.
Downloaded fine for me and... more important it WORKS..!
Determined that pretty quick, didn't you?
I'll reserve judgement on whether or not it works until after I've used it for 3-4 days or so.
You might want to run a check on your C: drive......one never can tell what the results will be with these untested patches.........
;)
I think the sake did the trick...when EF took over, they made sure the software engineers in the caves had enough sake to work with.

There is not SR1..... That's incredible...... There is SR1, there is not SR1, yes, no ,yes , no, what a joke, what a shame....
Watching the posts here reminds me of crabs trying to get out of a bucket. LOL...
Watching the memory bug reminds me of someone with a case of the crabs......
I've heard a rumor that SR1 shampoo helps the problem out tremendously.
