Subject: I'm totally new to Poser, I have Poser5

belladaz1955 ( ) posted Fri, 27 May 2005 at 12:01 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 9:08 PM

I am having problems getting the skin on my feet and arms to match the rest of the figure. I'd not sure what Morphs and textures, and the other stuff is. I've been trying to find Newbie tuts. There are tuts that will tell you to go here and do this and that but when you don't know the names and the tuts seem to start you in the middle of the instructions. I found one site and now they are closed. It was the first place with a step by step explaination for someone who has just opened Poser. Anyway, can someone please explain why some areas are 1 color and others are regular skin color? Thanks, Sherry

well when you first open a poser figure there is no real skin - just a colouring. there are viewing options - little ball things bottom left of your screen and you need to have the most right hand one of these clicked. now go to your pose files (right side of screen and click on pose menu) then see if you can find some MAT poses there for your character. love esther

The Poser manual is very confusing, and there are a lot of tutorials out there that bounce around and require some basic poser knowledge. Here are a number of links that can help you: http://trekkiegrrrl.dk/tut1.htm http://trekkiegrrrl.dk/tut6.htm http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2096208&Form.sess_id=36919002&Form.sess_key=1115524985 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2063281 http://www.ronknights.com/poser/index.htm http://www.poserguide.nimprodaction.com/issues/issue1/index.htm http://www.poserguide.nimprodaction.com/ ******************************************* What figure are you working with? Judy? Don? Vicky3? or something else? If you are using V3 or any one of the other Millennium Characters, you apply the morphs and textures in the Pose Room. - The figure is applied from the figure library - The morphs and textures are applied in the Poses library.

"I've been trying to find Newbie tuts" Do a search on "Geep" in this forum. He has written a hundred plus excellent 'Poser for Dummies' tuts.

Some of the links I posted earlier are to his tutorials.

belladaz1955 I'm pretty new myself and the nice folks here have been really quite helpful. Let me tell you what has been helping me. Even though the manual is pretty useless over all it did help me learn what things are called. So do work through it and explore all the palettes, menus, etc. and learn what they are called. Most of the tutorials will say things like go the "hair room," but if you don't know what that is you will be lost! Read through the posts here in the forum. Many of the things may go whizzing over your head at first, but some will be people with problems you have, but were never able to articulate or something you never even thought of, but suddenly realize you would like to try. Finally Dr. Geep rocks so hard! Those tutorials have helped me so much and I've only managed to work through a few so far, but have about a dozen more to go. As I've been working with them a tip I can offer is that if you seem to be getting lost on a step, read ahead a page and then come back to the page you were having trouble with, sometimes the answer is just around the bend. Good luck and have a great deal of fun.

I looked at Dr. Geep's stuff last night. I read almost all the post here before I posted, and your right, most went straight over my head. I have his tuts marked to play with as soon as I get some time. I am working with Victoria3, and a free download called ElvenShyne. It has the teddy and face, but the hands and feet are not colored the same as the rest of the body. How can I put the pic up here to explain? I guess you can tell I'm new to the forums too. Sherry

To place a picture in your post you save the image to your hard drive, then in the line below the typing box that says "attach file", you browse to the image you want. It will show up when you hit the "post reply" button.

sorry, my jpeg settings are messed up on that program and I haven't been able to fix them, trying again. Sherry

It looks like a body stocking and not a skin texture. You can see the neck, head, hands, and feet are skin tone, while the rest looks like it's a one piece "garment".

what can I do to fix it? the tattoos on the arms are supposed to match the face, how do I fix the "body" colors? The outfit came with the pose.

Acadia ( ) posted Fri, 27 May 2005 at 4:29 PM

Which outfit is that? To me it looks like a one piece body stocking, not a separate skin texture, tatoo, top, and brief.

:( I'm not sure. the outfit (top and bottom) was put on when I clicked on the top in the pose menu with the face. Is that the problem? Ok, I went back and took the tattoos off. now all of it matches. gee, I don't know if i will ever learn this stuff

Acadia ( ) posted Fri, 27 May 2005 at 4:45 PM

I'm not really understanding. Maybe someone else has a better idea. Have you contacted the person who created the skin texture/tatoo? That would probably be the best thing to do. You can look in the readme file for the person's name if the file installed without it.
