Subject: Poser Newbie... How do you get Victoria into poser?

vulcanccit ( ) posted Sat, 28 May 2005 at 11:05 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 8:21 PM

Do you first have to export out of DAZ Studio? or can Poser read her in directly?

Instal her into your Poser runtime and Poser can load her directly. (Victoria was actually made for Poser).

would I just take the victoria folder and put it in the Poser runtime folder?

Run the installer and have it install it to your Poser directory, and everything will be in the right places. In fact, any content you get can be installed to your Poser directory, and Daz studio will be able to access it from there. But if you have Poser 5 or 6 you can add the Daz Studio runtime to it and access Victoria directly without having toreinstall her.

To the Poser Directory, or the Poser RUNTIME Directory? I did the latter and it didnt work. I do have Poser 6... but I do not seem to have a Daz Studio Runtime directory. looks like it all is in one called content?

I'm not sure how you add a daz studio content directory to Poser 6, being as I don't use daz studio. Maybe someone else here can halp.

Poser does not read DS content in DS-specific formats. You can't use Victoria 3 RR from DS in Poser. If you want to use Victoria 3 you have to d/l her free from DAZ, run installer and wait 'till it finds Poser folder (= Poser.exe file). Than just click OK. Remember to check "View Readme file" since without it it's difficult to find installed content (DAZ installers' paths are a pain in the back).

I may be wrong, but if you use the add runtime button in Poser (5 or 6) and then search out the Daz Content directory, poser should be able to see any Poser format files in there. It won't see the .daz files (the ones that came with the free content) but I think it will see the Poser format files (cr2's pz2's etc.) Try it just in case, if not go ahead and install all Poser type files from Daz into Poser - as was mentioned above, you can still point to them and use them from within Daz.

I can not seem to find the add runtime button...where is that located?? I see add to Library, is that what you mean?

when you have the library open where you see the 'add to library' button, at the top is a folder with an arrow pointing up. Click on that to go up a level. keep doing that until you get to the top level, where you will see two folders, called "Poser 6" and "Downloads". At this top level, at the bottom there will be the add runtime button, in the same place where the "add to library" button was on the lower level. A detailed explanation is on pp. 85-86 of the manual

If you use Poser 4, there's no add runtime button ,-). And you have to install the content to the Poser directory, not the PoserRuntime directory.

vulcanccit ( ) posted Sat, 28 May 2005 at 5:31 PM

I tried the add runtime and that didnt work... ill try the install to Poser directory now when I run the Victoria intaller...

vulcanccit ( ) posted Sat, 28 May 2005 at 5:36 PM

well running the Victoria3 installer I just downloaded, and directing it to the Poser6 Directory does not work (that I can tell) :( This seems a lot harder than it needs to be.. grrr

vulcanccit ( ) posted Sat, 28 May 2005 at 6:23 PM

DUH! It does help if you actually download the correct file...I had downloaded the Victoria "Templates" not Victoria Base. So it was indeed the Poser 6 Directory and it comes up as DAZ People Thank you all to replied to me I hope I didnt bug ya tooo much :(

We all start out in the same place - learning. And the best way to learn is to ask questions. Nothing buggy about that! ;) Glad you finally got her installed. And remember, just about anything you buy or any freebies will be in Poser format (yes, even stuff from Daz) so just point everything to your Poser directory and you should be fine.
