Subject: How do I make clothes for Poser on a Mac?

I am on my second week with Poser, and thanks to all the excellant help from this forum I am doing pretty well. But I would like to create my own wardrobes. I see a video "how to" at Renderosity, " Poser Clothes Modeling Video Tutorial" but it appears to be only for Windows. Will it work for us Mac folks? Do I need another program? I am very good with Carrara except for the Vertices .

Well seeing as how AFAIK 3dsMax is not available on teh Mac platform then you will have to be fairly familiar with your modelling software to follow along with the video. But all you need is a little practice, I am sure that carrara is a capible modeller. Import your poser figure into Cararra ( please be aware that I do not nore have I ever used cararra) I generally start with a box primitive. Alter extrude manipulate the box into a shirt or what ever. Then bring into poser for boning.

I haven't seen the tutorial, but "Tailor" is often used to fit clothes, and there's no Mac version, of course. Just one of a long list of essential software unavailable to OS X users, unless you want to use VPC at a snail's pace.

I don't know if Carrara is well adapted for cloth modelling, but there are several good 3D programs avaialable for the Mac platform, for example Wings3D or Cinema 4D.
Your best bet is probably Silo, because with the topology brush you can sort of paint your clothing model onto the figure. Here is a link to the fully working 30-day demo if Silo.

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

There's a lot of tutes and discussions on clothes modelling and rigging. There are a number of us doing this on Mac -- and at least two other people I know using Carrara on a Mac! Regarding Tailor, the "shrink fit" approach to making the first fit can be done in Poser5, using the cloth engine. I haven't gone through the process of creating a full-body-morph this way, though! I'd prefer to run Tailor on some approximation of a Win machine. As a Carrara user you may want to look into Eovia's Hexagon -- cross-grade is very cheap right now. You will want to get into poly modelling/Vertex Room to get the most out of your Poser clothing design, in any case.
