retiming anims... not working since SR1.. When I select the source and destination frames, to lower #, (for ecample, making a 30 frame animation a 15 frame one).. it is just deleting the frames (the excess) not retiming them.. help? thanks I use this function regularly..

Do it in an outside program for now is all I can suggest. Or, Copy the Key Frames and move them to adjust the animation to the new timing desired.

Well, this bug has actually been there since the original release of P6. Search for "Retime Animation" in this forum and you'll see I've complained about it in several threads. I had sent a bug report to CL about a month ago and they neither replied nor fixed the bug.

I haven't done thorough testing yet, but it appears the routine fails to include the first frame (I haven't tested enough to see whether it misses the first frame when it is Frame 1, or if it misses it regardless of the first Source Frames frame).

IF I am right, one could come up with a workaround which involves marking your Source Frames to include one frame before the range you actually want to move/copy/expand.

I found a "workaround" for the bug before SR1 tho... maybe I shoulda posted it. I found that when you retime the frames, you had to enter your #'s into all 4 boxes, even if they say what you want already, and it worked!
Now it dont work at all.(afterSR1)

Lemme' make sure I have this right. Open the retime window. Type "1" & "15" in the "from" & "to" boxes in the destination frames. Then hit [OK] Right? I ask because I can't make it mess up. I even shifted the animation. That is take frame 10 - 30 and move then to 1 - 10. I'm on a PC is this a Mac? Nerd3D

Im talking about a 30 frame animation... Heres what I mean specifically... I made a 30 frame animation... it runs too slow, so I want to cut it in half. How Ive always done that is you type in your "source frames" of 1-30... and in the destination frames, type in 1 -15. after I did that, I then immediately enter "15" in the end frame (replacing the 30) in the anim pallate thingy... it asks are you sure you want to delete frames? (meaning 16 -30)... hiut yes, then the entire animation is now there, but from 1-15... and 15 frames long. This has always worked in P4, PPP, and originally P6 too untill SR1, however, in P6 (pre SR1), In pre SR1, it didnt work either, but I found by accident that if you manually entered all 4 #'s whether it was a change or not(source and destination), then it would work fine. SR1, I cant seem to get it to work at all..

I think I know what's happening to you. Does the animation have only one key frame, the end frame? If that's the case here's what is going on. When you use the retime thing, especially on a nice even setting like 1/2 as fast it moves frame 1 to frame 1, 3 goes to 2, 5 goes to 3, 7 to 5, 9 to 6. See the pattern? It's working on the odd numbered frames. Guess where frame 30 goes. There are lots of way around this. Resample the key frames before you retime. Keep in mind the way the retime discards the imbetween frames. Better yet, just add keys to all the frames before you retime. Then resample after you have retimed to reduce the number of keys. Another way around this is to make the animation 31 frames and retime from 31 to 15. Finally. If you really only have an ending key, just move the key with the animation pallet. Easier and faster. I hope something here helps Nerd3D
