ApolloMaximus is supported by WardrobeWizard, meaning using this you can convert clothing meant for M3, (or even V3), for him.

Whee, I just got the utility. Phil must think I'm a total ditz. I failed to read the page and just added it to my cart. I didn't know he mailed the link after the fact. I thought I had done something wrong when I didn't have a link to download. Now I just have to wait for "Maxxy" and I'm all set. lol, I've already nicknamed him :P

What's most impressive to me in the preview images is how naturally he bends!!! The figure is brilliant, and in combination with Syyd's texture and Face_Off's shaders the total package is mind-blowingly realistic.

darken666 ( ) posted Wed, 01 June 2005 at 11:08 AM

And won't he look so good in the V3 morphing cocktail dress? Hehehe. At least this one looks like a masculine male, rather than M3 and David who are a little too androgynous.

Aeneas ( ) posted Wed, 01 June 2005 at 12:42 PM

Looks great. At RDNA it is said that this character will also be available for P5. I might well be interested then... And now for an Appollonia... Is it for this that V3 and M3 became free?

I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)

DrunkMonkey ( ) posted Wed, 01 June 2005 at 2:50 PM

"At least this one looks like a masculine male" Yes! Exactly what makes me so happy about this character. I've never like M3's "s/he" look.

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 01 June 2005 at 4:16 PM

I posted awhile back looking for character addons for M3 that weren't "girly". Most addons for him are too feminine in nature. I wanted a "MAN!" There are some addons for him that are more "manly", but even then the faces seem to still have that "baby face" look to it. I'm totally excited about Maxxy. There isn't anything feminine about the face. Exactly the type of male character that I've been looking for.

Hellooooooo if only you could reach out a "touch" him ;) lol

onimusha ( ) posted Wed, 01 June 2005 at 6:21 PM

If they support him with great selection of clothing that RDNA has for M3, then this figure will rock. If they don't, it won't...

Acadia ( ) posted Wed, 01 June 2005 at 8:49 PM

I think it still will because with Phil's wardrobe wizard, you can convert M3 clothing or David Clothing to fit him. It's a bit more work, but it will give him clothes to wear. I think this figure is going to be fab. I'm glad to see new figures coming out that aren't "Daz". Not that I don't like Daz, but a little competition is a good thing. It breaks the monopoly hold.

Hey there! Just saw this. Now that the P6 updater is out we are just taking a bit of extra time to test everything, making sure there are no changes, and giving oursleves a bit of extra time to add extras here and there. Don't forget you can see some fun images on my site too. Syyd may kill me for showing this image of hers but I love it so. Her texture is so nice. And face-off did great work. The Wardrobe Wizard will be handy for many i think. ApolloMax is just rigged so different than the current design approach, I didn't originally think it could be done. I was wrong...and happily so. I was laughing talking to PhilC and said. "Jeesh Phil, you ganna add the dragon and horse next?"

That texture is great. Will it be available too? Also, some of us are dying to know... did you model it after anyone in particular? Excellent work and I know I'm eagerly awaiting his release! :)

I didn't model it after anyone specific. All the morphs were done by hand, artistically. I used to work with alot of faces so I love shaping them. He is the amalgam of several body styles from magazines and art books. I scrapped 100's of morphs, favoring only the best. No morphs were reused to make new ones, so his ability to be customized is quite vast. And I have developed a new method of making morphs, by which, morphs are fully reversible to achieve fully intact looks from deep positive, to deep negative values. So each dial has two real looks, not just semi-negative value results we are used to. Oh and yes this texture, by syyd, will be available.

byAnton ( ) posted Thu, 02 June 2005 at 6:21 AM

I do plan on VenusMaximus and have a base. I also have a few other ideas cooking in my head. :) But these things take awhile. As we know, recycling too much geometry and reusing morphs doesn't work, so I'm taking my time on her. But Venus is months away. Apollo will be getting my undivided attention. Maximus is just the name for the figure line. Likely, all of my humans will end with Maximus regardless of mesh.

Its good to see new figures outside the DAZ unimesh stew. To add a female figure is nice, but I think we have in Poser community so many female chars there is no priority to add another one. With Zygote Open 3D Project the next female figure will come,... maybe ;-) Btw. Anton have you seen the Project Kaimira by Seraphira? Mazak

But they aren't ANTON females. 8-)

When you see ApolloMaximus you'll be on the edge of your seat while you wait for his female counterpart. Max really is a whole new level of Poser figure. The joint work is beyond amazing.

There is no such thing as -too many- female...or male...models. There are too many with insufficient support, true enough. But if enough people whine at DarkWhisper to get plugins coded for the more distaff figures (both Natalia and Dina =really= need to be able to use some of the wonderful skin textures out there), and get the Wardrobe Wizard's wizards to include them in the list of compatibles, that could potentially breathe a lot of new life into 'dead' meshes. For that matter, it sounds as if Anton is doing what has been discussed in another thread; pushing the current Poser rigging system to a new level. If so, Apollo and Venus might be the figures to point at when we talk about changes in the rigging system for P7. Those knee bends are rather impressive...

I really, really can't wait for this. The joint work is astounding and the philosophy behind the mesh looks dead on. I >love< that it isn't overly locked into one shape... the basic "default" mesh is an almost perfect basis for taking morphs on... and that will be the key to it's success. With all the dials in M3 and V3 I still can't really >change< so much about them because of the way Daz builds morphs and the limitations of the "unimesh" concept. ApolloMaximus doesn't look like he has that problem! Now I can just wait forever for Venus. sigh

It's nice to hear about a new rigg system!

Also just checked the uvs mapps and those look very impresive too! Making textures for him should be easier than any other figure I've seen! Very logic!

I also like that he is not super-hi resolution! The fact that every new figure must be higher resolution then the old ones makes no sense anymore!

And at last a male figure with legs like mine! :^)

Resolution actually gets in the way sometimes. There is a misconception that higher is better but it is all about the shape. Higher res is just igher res. It does not make figures pose better, actually it makes it worse, past a certain point. I worked very long and hard and contemplated/chose each polygon with extensive tests on whether more res provided better results. Where it did not, polygons were removed. I think the syyd's image shows that a figure can render smooth and realistic without being at an astronomical polygon count. It's really more about the shape than the resolution.

Is there a screen cap of the mesh posted anywhere Anton? Also...I'm curious as to what App(s) do you model in? I know Daz uses Lightwave a lot,is that what you use? Awesome character. Tom

Well for now there are the templates. I am sure people will show when he is out there. I do alot of prework in wings and then go into Lightwave. But I use a bunch of apps for various things.

Thanks Anton, It was the discussion of resolution that got me curious to see the mesh. I understand that you might not want to release mesh shots before release, and wouldn't dream of asking you to divulge any of your secrets. I'm just amazed at your modeling skills and was curious as to what app(s) you used. I use Lightwave and C4D (not very well I might add) and was wondering if you have ever used C4D. Thanks again Tom

One of the biggest problems I see in modelling these days is the misuse of subdivision. Too many rely on it to get smooth shapes. It's likda like the way Photoshop users used to over use smudge. I like Lightwave a lot, but I am not a huge fan of it's interface. It is good for some things and not for others. Okay back to rendering... Have a great weekend.
