I haven't received the June newsletter yet. :(

That's what I thought, too. But it's what the read-me says. Stranger still, the R'osity Eula does allow commercial use/renders. Looks like another case of conflicting licences. :-( Bloody confusing, that.

Nope, not conflicting at all. Free stuff has always had the option for the creator to add any restriction they like.

Each month Renderosity sends out a news letter announcing changes and sales and other general news applicable to this site and community. You can subscribe to it by going to your member options and profile and putting a check mark in the space next to the news letter. You should get one mailed to you then.
There is a great freebie download with each monthly news letter.

nakamuram, I didn't yet receive my newsletter this week, so it may still arrive. If not, this freebie will be in every weekly newsletter for the rest of this month. Make sure your profile is set to receive the newsletter :-) Karen

I just got my news letter from there, and there is a another great free outfit for V3 by Lesthat and Vampir3Princess. It's like Christmas at the beginning of each month with these great gifts.

Didn't get the newsletter - at least not all of it! It - and at least a couple other e-mails came in garbled - probably a carry over from a mail server hiccup early this morning! Most of the lost mail was probably unwanted garbage anyway! Any chance of getting the newsletter re-sent? Pretty3D makes - well - "Pretty" stuff, restrictions or no! Thanks in advance. Larry F

Hi Larry, If you hop over to the Community Centre forum and make a new post, one of the admins should be able to resend this week's to you :-) Karen"you are terrifying

OK, from the 'Pretty Nights - ReadMe.txt' file it says "The product cannot be used for commercial uses." But, from the "End User Licence.txt" file in the same archive, it says "The end user may use the materials in any personal projects or commercial projects, as long as the Artist 's work is protected from extraction and none of the items above have been violated." Soo, uhhh, which the heck is it. Somebody wanna clear that up? Regards- Lemurtek
I have asked the store staff to look into this. I am sorry for the confusion. Karen :-) Poser Mod

Hello all, Sorry for the confusion around this. Can everyone please redownload the file from next weeks newsletter as it is being updated right now to address technical issues as well as this license issue. Once again, sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. As it stands now, the creators wishes are what we are abiding by in this instance. It cannot be used in commercial renders. Thanks! Deb

Sadly, since I can't use this item with the restrictions as such, I'll just delete it rather than redownloading it. Before I get blasted for spitting on the generosity of free stuff creators, I'm not, really, I'm not! This piece looks like an excellent set, and, having done a few freebies (very humble freebies comepared to this one :) I can well imagine the effort that went into it. I fully appreciate the authors right to distribute and license a product as they see fit, after all it their product, their blood, sweat and tears that went into the making of it. But to me, restrictions such as the ones on this product, whether free product or otherwise, beg the question of "whose art is it anyway." It is rather like having a lein on your car. You can drive around in it, but really, the bank owns it This just isn't acceptable to me, not for an image or anim that may spend hours, days or even weeks working on. I'm certainly happy to give credit for items I use, but in the end, If I can't control what happens to my own art, and if I can't even really say it's my art, it's not worth making. In any event, thanks again for the clarification. Perhaps in the future you might add a notice in the newsletter, on whether commercial use is allowed, as you do in free stuff. This might even save Rendo a few coins in bandwidth cost. Regards- Lemurtek
I have to agree with you Lemurtek. And I'm looking at this as both a customer and a merchant equally. As a customer, while I appreciate the freebies, such restrictions tell me that a merchant places their mesh as golden above my artistic interpretation, texture work and additional modeling on every other aspect of my render where their single mesh is only a small portion of.
As a merchant I don't see the legal leg to stand on from such a restriction. I put out both models and textures as freebies and will not restrict someone's render. That belongs to them, not me.
And yes, a heads up before downloading would be a good idea. I'd rather not spend the time babysitting a download of a restricted item on my dialup.

The latest DAZ freebie is a very nice set for Vicky 3, in the style of superhero comics. It may be that I have the DVD of the movie within reach, and so have been primed, but a red costume, with ribbons/straps around arms and legs, and the character wielding a pair of Japanese sai does seem a rather obvious echo of Elektra from Marvel. It's not that close a version, but...

Don't forget the freebie in this month's newsletter. It's an outfit for V3 called "Pretty Nights" by Pretty3D. It looks gorgeous!
