Should I just cave in and buy a Wyrmmaster set? I'm thinking that following the rest of Rendo with the soft-core pr0n is the way to go. Screw artistic visions, I need tits for pictures to get hits.

Or... you could just make pics that please you... and don't worry if you don't get views on your pics. I gave up worrying about that a looooong time ago...

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 11:48 PM

I personally NEVER bother viewing pictures without some kind of preview thumbnail. You might wanna consider that.

Sarte ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 11:51 PM

I guess I should just make pictures of soft-core porn with the "b00behs11!1!11!1!!!1!11!11!1shift+1!" dials turned to 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999.

Why is it important that people look at your pictures? Are you posting pictures just to get attention? Did I miss out on something, are people getting money based on the amount of hits they get? I just don't get it. I do pictures that are interesting to me, and if the mood strikes me, I post it somewhere, but could care less if anyone looks at it.

elizabyte ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 11:52 PM

I agree with Mizrael. I never look at images that have no thumbnail. bonni

There are alot of images out there with cups under the size D that get hits :) As suggested..why not just make your art to please yourself? As far as I'm concerned, hits are just a little bonus to something that I, myself, enjoy.

If you want attention try giving folks an idea of what they're gonna see. It has nothing to do with goatse. People like to know what they're gonna be hit with when clicking on links in the gallery. Just because you say there aren't any boobeh's in your gallery doesn't mean you're being honest and folks don't wanna click on images with no preview thumbnails that give some idea of the content of the image. That goes for images of violence as well. A preview can give them an idea if the image is too strong for their stomach.

stonemason ( ) posted Wed, 08 June 2005 at 12:07 AM

can't say I ever view an image that has oversized breast's ...I tend to view them as being demeaning to woman. & if the only drawcard for someone to view an image of mine is the possibilitie of seeing a nude then I'd rather they didn't look at all Sarte: you should use some thumbnails..it's alot more inviting than just text..gives you the chance to be creative on a small scale too Stefan

Quote - Sarte...as far as I'm concerned, we ALL want views on our images. If folks really didn't care, they wouldn't bother posting here

Some post here because it's web space and they may not have any other means to put their art on the net. I for one don't care how many "hits" I get. I do art to please me and only me. If in the end someone looks at it and it makes them happy, that's all that matters to me. I'd rather have one person look at something I've made and go away feeling good, than have 1000 people click, glance and leave. Do your art for your own eyes and happiness. Stop worrying about views and hits. Make yourself happy and in the end the rest will just happen. As for using breasts and nudity to generate views, all I have to say to that is from the tone and content of your posts, you sound very young. Sounds like you have a great deal to learn not only about art, but about women and respecting them too. Start by putting up some thumbnails to your pictures. For some reason some people have an aversion to clicking a plain link in a gallery even though it will lead them to the same place as a thumbnail will. Again, make art to make yourself happy. Forget about the views because frankly they just don't matter.

"Should I just cave in and buy a Wyrmmaster set? I'm thinking that following the rest of Rendo with the soft-core pr0n is the way to go. Screw artistic visions, I need tits for pictures to get hits." I find that comment quite disturbing and disrespectful to most of the artists and to Wyrmaster. I don't post "soft-core porn," here. I don't have outrageously big breasted women in my images and I use thumbnails. I get a fair count of views. I as many others use Wyrmasters magnets to help shape my figures. They do much more than just BIG breasts. Why do you feel the need to pick on him with so many other sets out there that do the same thing. FYI, I don't look at images without thumbnails too.

Kawecki: There is a limit for bobs size, beyond this limit the bobs don't look good. In Poser, and in life ;o) Sarte, I can understand that you want views and comments, but I can guarantee you that you will get more hits per pic if you provide an interesting thumbnail. It doesn't need to have boobs or butt in it to draw view. An interesting face can draw many view, in my experience. (Actually one of my highest-viewed pics has a crop of the bare feet of the model, so maybe we have legions of foot-fetishists just hanging around waiting to view work, try it!)

I feature lots of voluptuous retro pin-up ladies (not soft core porn) because I like them, but they are not actually the ones that get me the most hits. I find the most hits come from outstanding postwork, like hair painting, or a terrific face render showing details or exquisite lighting. Remember, most people here are actually artists intent on improving their ART, so people are looking for inspiration and style. There are a million porn sites but this is an Artist's gallery. It also helps to leave comments on other artists ART. We are a community. If someone leaves a comment people try to reciprocate if they can squeeze in the time. When I first started at Rendo I learned from Sophia Deer, Luciferno and now Prog. They commented on almost everyone's art and built a really fine community spirit. cheerio lululee

Here's my second most popular gallery thumbnail.

Bear in mind that most people don't have time to look at every image when they go to the gallery - only the mods have to do that unenviable task. :( One of the main factors they'll take into account in deciding whether to look at your image or skip onto something else will be the thumbnail. Members who are on dial-up will be unwilling to spend ages waiting for an image to load unless they think it will be worth the wait.

With your non-thumbed images, it doesn't matter what size the boobs are, because people can't see them until they've opened the image. By that time, you've got the hit anyway, and if that's all you're interested in, why bother?

If you want to be cynical, do what has been suggested so many times already in these forums. Use a thumbnail of gigantic boobs for everything you post, no matter what is in the image itself. You won't draw the best crowd, and you'll probably get some flames; but hey, you can't have everything. :P

artistheat ( ) posted Wed, 08 June 2005 at 7:44 AM

I look at images even if the thumb has boobs or not....Many of you miss out on good art work if you only go by the thumb...Don't judge a book by it's cover....

it's a fact of life, sex sells...it always has and it always will...so, ya better stop worrying over it or you'll give yourself a hemmorage...and as mentioned above, thumbnails definitely help with the views...I personally usually skip over images with no thumbnails, and I dont know why I do, but they just dont appeal to me and I'm likely not going to change to please someone else...my images dont get as many hits as yours, but oh so what, I am absolutely tickled if even a few people viewed them and enjoyed them...I posted them to please myself...anyway, I looked at your gallery and you have a lot more views than many images in the gallery and I dont see those people posting here and complaining...also, I read some of your comments in this post and in some of your gallery images, and maybe I'm just interpretting you wrong, but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder...even if I did look at one of your images that had no thumbnail, after reading some of the things you wrote that had a sharp edge to them, I would never view another of your images...so add thumbnails and drop the attitude and maybe your hit count will go up...sorry, I'm not trying to be rude or mean, just honest...and if that bothers you, you shouldn't have posted publicly about this...

What Mizrael said. I suspect you'll get more hits if you not only post thumbnails, but post interesting thumbnails. (Not necessarily of boobs, though it helps. ;-)

You are competing with hundreds of other artists. If you want someone to click on your image, you have to make it interesting or attractive. The thumbnail is the way to do it.

A lot of people will never click if there's no thumbnail. Often, the artists who don't post thumbnails are the ones who don't know how to make a thumbnail. IOW, the greenest of newbies. When there's dozens of other highly skilled artists posting images, why waste time with a thumbless one?

KimberlyC ( ) posted Wed, 08 June 2005 at 2:49 PM

I agree with all above. Sarte.. this is something that you will have to learn over time. Don't make images for others make it for yourself. That is not the reason we all make images. Who cares if you don't get any views or comments. It took me years to get the comments I get now. Do your art for YOU..and you only. And you will get the comments and the views over time. A friend even bought me a Star Trek Quark's Bar mug which holds three cups! I hear K-Mart has a really impressive line of plastic buckets! Life is too short. No thumbnail, no view. Science Fiction: Vickie without a space suit.
Fantasy: Vickie without armor.
Mythology: Vickie without clothes.

Art is supposed to evoke feelings from the viewer, not appeal to people's sexual side. If it does the latter, it's called pornography. Consistantly, giant breasts designed to arouse and not artistic images designed to stimulate the mind recieve the highest amount of views on the gallery. I'm just wondering if the only way for me to get helpful feedback is by posting enormous tits.

Lot of hits doesn't necessarily mean lots of comments. In fact, I've found it's the opposite. The comments-to-hits ratio for pinups is pretty low.

You got lots of good advice in this thread. If you want more people to look at your work, use thumbnails. If you were selling a car or a house, you would clean it up and make sure it looked its best. If you were going on a job interview, you would dress neatly, to put your best foot forward. Why send your images out there without giving them their best chance?

KarenJ ( ) posted Fri, 10 June 2005 at 12:40 AM

" I'm just wondering if the only way for me to get helpful feedback is by posting enormous tits." More views does not equal helpful comments. Also the "helpful comments" on bib-boob pics aren't really likely to be helpful to your areas of interest, unless you ARE interested in making good bib-boob pics - am I making sense? You've got some helpful comments in this thread about choosing thumbnails and why many people won't view images without thumbs. I'll also say that adding something like "Constructive critique welcomed" or "Please tell me what I can improve" in your text section can help you get good, constructive feedback. It also helps to comment on others who work in a similar area of interest to you, and if you have an artist whose work you really admire, IM them and ask how they achieved a particular effect or if they have any useful tutorials/sites to share. I'll reiterate that your images are competing with thousands of others posted on a daily basis. Nobody can view every image in the gallery and make meaningful comments on all of them. So you need to catch the viewers' attention, and realistically that means a good thumb.

Sarte, As posted in my gallery after your 'comment' ... "LOL, This is truly funny... I've seen petty before, but this takes the cake. And.. if you would notice, I do allow for them to be rated, as this image actually has a rating of 'excellent.'" And for you to delete the image I said the same thing to you is truly petty. As has been assumed, I have to agree that this whole thread was started as a troll for views on your gallery. You do not apparently do your images for the sake of doing them and sharing... You apparently do them only for the purpose of receiving views. Good luck to you.. and I'm so sorry you seem to have missed the point of 'Art.' -Lee

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 10 June 2005 at 5:17 AM

FWIW...I allow my images to be commented on, but not rated. (At least, when I remember to check the boxes.) IME, ratings aren't worth a lot. How often do you see a rating less than "excellent"? I think allowing comments but not ratings signals that you're open to critical comments, not just praise.
