It is one of the best known elvish greetings: "A star shines on the hour of our meeting." There are a couple of decent books on Tolkien's languages, one is British and out-of-print, the other is new and quite good. THE LANGUAGES OF TOLKIEN'S MIDDLE EARTH. Ruth S. Noel. (about $20 in softcover, readily available) As to the Klingon, I gave donsimpson a copy of Hamlet in Klingon that I found up at the Shakespeare festival in Ashland last year. It was interesting to read the notes surrounding the play. :wide evil grin: Carolly

My husband has a Klingon Bible, as in, "The Holy Bible", translated into Klingon. Or maybe it's just the New Testament, can't remember... ;-) He doesn't actually read Klingon, but we've got a big collection of Bible translations (including Greek and Hebrew), and it was a funny addition to the collection. bonni

Dark is much faster than light, when you turn on the switch you never are able to see the darkness running away.

Stupidity also evolves!

Why can't we have a Spongebob Squarepants Forum? He's popular, he's all wet, he's all over the place and into everything too; they even have a Spongebob Squarepants Phone that sings instead of rings! I think it's just as absurd.

Let's play Spongebob Gazes at the Abyss ...[warning - Nudity, not for the faint of heart]

Pointless idea. We already have an 'x & Gothic' section.

Lunar Tuna Song - rated NC-16

Tina Turnah sang a tuna
To the Tuna on the Moona

Lunar Lana, Lana Turnah

... repeat till Lah Lah, hehe

Looks like we have one big Spongebob Squarepants fan among us! Lol! Wonder if Spongebob has a dark side too? Bathwater running, lots of bubbles, time to go wash behind my ears, lol.

shinyary2 ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 12:51 AM

Yeah.. Okay.. Right.. I'm not with them. =) There is also a "x & Horror" section along with the "x & Gothic" section for expressing your darker side. I've got an idea for a "Horror" pic, don't really know if I'll do it or not. GIVE IN TO THE DARK SIDE!!! Sorry. Guess I am with them. =)

jupiterkris ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 1:34 AM

Here's one with a "Dark Side" ...

A lonely larva, Turned a tuna
To the tuna, Of a Lovah
Lovely tuna, Said the Tuna
To the larva, In the Tuna

jupiterkris ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 5:52 AM

It gets "Brighter" ... hehe

*I luv Tuna, Sang Lana Turnah
To the tuna, Of a Lovah
I luv Lana, Sang lonely larva
In the liver, of Lana Turnah

So Lunar Tuna, Never turned a tuna
Became Just Desert
And lonely larva, lived in Lana Turnah
Happily Ever Aftah*

All of these brilliant thoughts and the writer's gallery is so empty? WINK.

NothingNess ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 9:42 AM

Yes indeed Tallpockets. Just baffles the mind. To the topic at hand.... thee immortal one: Doesn't sound like such a forum is going to be created. Someone may have suggested this in an earlier response (I admit I didn't read every response, my eyes started glazing over the OT stuff) but I'll state my suggestion here anyway. Looks like you already signed up for another account to post this thread. Use this account and express your dark side there free from stigmatizing your other works. I understand the need for anonymity and the need to express ones self and I say go for it! For those that shy from the darkness. I say there is darkness and light within all of us. Deny the darkness, fear it, pretend it's not there and you deny a part of yourself. I'm not saying you should act on it and go on a murderous rage or something like that NO....DO NO HARM....find a constructive way to express yourself. Art and writing are great examples.

DCArt ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 11:17 AM

The lack of support for a forum that focuses on darkness is not because people are afraid of or shying away from darkness - that seems a dramatic assumption. I guess the main question I had when reading this thread was "Why does this type of art deserve a forum over all other types of art?" I don't see any reason, other than that the original poster asked for anonymity in posting the images. There are many "dark" images in the galleries already, so it's obvious that they are allowed (unless they cross the lines of the TOS, that is). If the reason for asking for a special forum and for anonymity in posting these images is to go beyond the TOS restrictions, then the images probably wouldn't be allowed here anyway. If we get a special forum for "darkness", then it would only be fair to create a forum for every other special interest or special belief system or other social commentary. And, as a philosophical comment, life isn't about embracing the light side OR the dark side. It's about acknowledging that BOTH exist, and learning how to balance them effectively. There are many shades of gray between white and black. 8-)

jupiterkris ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 2:03 PM

"A Grey Bach Side" ... hehe

Sang Tina Turnah, To Lunar Moona
I luv tuna, Then Lunar Tuna
Then Lunar Tuna, Turned a tuna
Lunar tuna, tuna Lovah

StaceyG ( ) posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 7:38 PM

I have to say I don't think this special forum idea is a good one for several reasons. Thanks for the suggestion thee_immortal_one but I don't think this is something we want to entertain. Stacey Community Manager

Well, the responses were pretty much entertaining.

Lov-ah-ly Lun-a, the Maid in the Moon-a,
Turned-out a Turnah and out-tuned a tuna,
Luna was only a little bit lonely
For someone to swing with so sweetly and soon-a!

(There's a reason we're here and not in the Writer's Forum.)
