Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Sep 18 2:50 am)

We now have a ProPack Section in the Poser FreeStuff.
Check out the new Poser Python Wish List thread. If you have an idea for a script, jot it down and maybe someone can write it. If you're looking to write a script, check out this thread for useful suggestions.

Also, check out the official Python site for interpreters, sample code, applications, cool links and debuggers. This is THE central site for Python.

You can now attach text files to your posts to pass around scripts. Just attach the script as a txt file like you would a jpg or gif. Since the forum will use a random name for the file in the link, you should give instructions on what the file name should be and where to install it. Its a good idea to usually put that info right in the script file as well.

Subject: Scripting Question/Request

Is there a script for adjusting figures that have BHVs imported to them so that they will walk on the floor instead of up in the air? (The old way was to manually adjust each keyframe in the resulting animation.) Also, how about one to "batch delete" those RSRs and BUMs that apparently aren't needed any more. Or one to "batch apply" Bushi's Morph Squeezer to all the morph files at once? Are any of the foregoing actions possible to do with a Python Script?

Hmmm ... I don't know about the BHV stuff since I haven't worked much with the animation side of Poser. The 'batch delete' and 'batch apply' are both possible. There has been some debate here about the possibilities of nuking a system using PoserPython. As a result, the delete program might be better addressed in another language till things settle a bit. A PoserPython version of MorphSqueeze is a real possibility. I'll look into it after I finish up the undo function for the FaceRandomizer script.

With the propack comes dropfiguretofloorallframes. This does what you want

Wow! Thanks, Grammer. I hadn't noticed that. Guess I'll have to read all of those Script descriptions in the User Guide a bit more carefully. Tell me though, I saw the droptofloor Script, but I didn't see scripting for applying it to all frames. Is there a separate Script, or am I not understanding something?

it should be in the utility folder and do this for all frames
