Subject: Wardrobe Wizard gives me a loin cloth...

MeInOhio ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 8:04 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 8:54 AM

The first time I used Wardrobe Wizard, I ended up with a sort of loin cloth from a pair of knee length shorts. I thought it was because I picked the skirt option the first time. Then I read the detailed instructions and saw I should use the full body conversion w/o head for most things. I tried it again, I ended up with a pair of shorts for David that needed some smoothing. Today I downloaded the updates and installed in the order that the website said and I tried to make Mike's shorts fit Apollo. But all I end up with in a skimpy loin cloth. A sort of belt with a thin line of polygons between the legs. Wouldn't really cover anything crucial. I've tried it several times. Shut Poser down and restarted. Same thing. I did notice that since the upgrade, I see a bunch of magnets and then one by one they all disappear and for a moment I saw the shorts and then most of them vanished and I end up with the loin cloth. Am I doing something wrong? I load the shorts. I load Mike. I zero mike. I select the shorts. (I made the mistake of not selecting the shorts a couple times and I think it analyzed Mike instead. That took half an hour.) I conform the shorts. I convert from and choose full body w/o head I delete Mike I load Apollo I zero Apollo (with the button provide in case there's any question) I convert to and end up with the skimpy loin cloth. Also since the upgrade, the python window keeps loosing the focus and I have to click on it numerous times before it gets the focus back. And sometimes when I click, I make something happen that's under the window. Like one time the python window was on the Camera controls and clicking on the inactive python window activated the fly around camera. Maybe I need to shut the pc down and restart and see what happens then.

Its possible that you have not got all the updates or not installed in the correct order. You may like to email me with your purchase info so that you can get the '03 zip file. This is the Wardrobe Wizard now fully up to date in a single file and includes the last minute Apollo updates.

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 8:18 PM

So if I got mine today I would have that version? I'm also having problems, tried to take a top from Stephie original to Aiko 3 and it doesn't change the size at all. Thanks, Marque

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 8:20 PM

Ack says it's version Wardrobe Wizard information: version: 1.2

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 8:21 PM

Zip file says full 03 but the version in poser that I'm using, (when I hit the version button), says 1.2 Marque

MeInOhio ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 8:41 PM

Well, I just tried it again, this time in Poser 6. I was in Poser 5 the other time. That's where most of my library is. I shut the pc down in between too. And this time I picked Mike's T shirt. I did the same steps. I didn't see the magnets. The python window didn't loose the focus and I ended up with a shirt that I can use, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe I'll try the shorts again and see what happens. Thanks for the response anyway and your offer Philc.

PhilC ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 8:51 PM

the '03.zip file I referred to is the WardrobeWizardFULL_03.zip file that you would have downloaded this morning. There is no relationship between the download file name and the version number. Are you sure that you have version 1.2 ? When I use the exact same files that I sent you I see version 1.29

I then did a test with clothing between Stephanie and Aiko but can not repeat your results. Could you please tell me the OBJ file names that are being referenced by the tow figure files you loaded. I'll then be able to check further. You will need to have the Wardrobe Wizard installed in the version of Poser that you are running.

Thanks.

I Tried to convert V3's catsuit to Dina and got similar results. The convert to button gave me the hip section of the catsuit, but nothing else. I am using the full version (zip 03.

MeInOhio ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 9:00 PM

Well, I just tried the shorts again and got the same result and then I tried some racing pants, and they converted just fine, so it must be the shorts. They were those free shorts that DAZ gave away for Mike 3. I can send you the obj, if you want. But two other garments converted fine.

nickedshield ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 9:27 PM

MeInOhio, did you ever fix those shorts? Or get the fixed version? If memory serves, there was a grouping issue. Someone wrote a note on how to use UVMapper to correct it. It's been awhile back so I'm not even sure what to tell you to search for .

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

dialyn ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 9:58 PM

Hmmm...I just upgraded and my version is 1.28. :( You're tough to keep up with.

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 10:26 PM

Tried it in both pro pack and poser 5. Getting the version number from the python script in the program. Do I need to upgrade? Marque

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 10:28 PM

Ok this is weird, just checked again and got Wardrobe Wizard information: version: 1.29 Is that the newest version? Marque

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 10:42 PM

Tried to go from Steph 1 to V3, no go. I know that this program works, what am I doing wrong? Marque

dante ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 11:04 PM

My version also reads 1.28...Do I need to upgrade?...

wrpspeed ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 12:54 AM

I don't know if this helps at all, but Kalypso has an Apollo/wardrobe Wizard Tutorial that might be handy at some point. Hope it all works out!

Was using that tutorial as well. Worked to take a top, different from the first one, from Aiko 3 to V3 but then couldn't use the top again. Thought once you converted it you could go to another character with it. Am I missing some tutorials that come with the program? Only thing I found was a list of steps. Thanks, Marque

Boreth ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 8:43 AM

WW 1.29 in Poser 5 , Python window loses focus after every action, time varies between 10 secs and up to a few minutes after which I usually give up. This renders WW totally useless in P5. WW 1.29 in Poser 6 , never loses focus but even the simplest change in a figure requires a lot of adjusting afterwards, looks like I paid $39 to keep doing what I already did.

Marque, After you've done the initail 'Convert From' that information should be in your Analysis folder. To use the clothing on a supported figure, bring in the figure, bring in the 'original' piece of clothing then select 'Convert to Figure'. Here's an example of M2's Mountain Man outfit used on two totally different figures... Apollo Max and Laura.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:02 AM

This is what I get Please rename the 'To' figure to 'To' Done! 0.9 second

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:06 AM

Do you have more than one figure in the scene? Waredrobe Wizard seems to find multiple figures a little confusing.

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:33 AM

Ok, figured it out. I am guessing that Steph 1 isn't supported? It worked when I took it from Aiko 3 to V3. Any chance of getting support for the original Daz figures and for SheFreak? Meaning V1 V2 Stephanie M1 and M2 and Aiko? Have a lot of stuffage for them and would like to use it on the newer characters if that's possible. Thanks, Marque

nickedshield ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:35 AM

What that's telling me is you are using a renamed figure, one that's not on the list. One thing you can check on your 'To' figure is the obj name. If it's not the same as the original V3, assuming it's a V3 character you are attempting to fit, you can get creative and backup the original V3 obj, backup your figure then remane your figure to V3 xxxxxx.obj. I would create a new folder and move the new file there then rename V3 back to what it should be. Lastly, edit your figure Cr2 to point to the new obj and save under a different name so you don't overwrite the original. You will get the Shrugging Man but who cares, load you figure and resave it back to the library with the exact same name and you'll have a thumbnail. This is what I had to do in oder to get one of my modified V3's to work. I can't stress this enough... backup before trying this.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:35 AM

Sigh, just checked, stephanie is supported, so why does it end up looking like a bra instead of a bodice? Time for therapy, physical that is, will try after I get back. Thanks for the patience and help, can be a tad dense...lol Marque

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:42 AM

And is there any way to get the SheFreak supported? She's one of the main reasons I grabbed the program. Thanks, Marque

nickedshield ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 10:51 AM

What is she based from? The Freak?, I believe that is M3 base. If I'm right, you could try what I've outlined above. If it works, great, if not, back to the drawing board.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 12:22 PM

The bodice is from an item made for stephanie 1. The conversion was to V3. Nothing was changed, or renamed. Marque

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 12:37 PM

Just tried again with the stephanie bodice from D71Talyon outfit...no go. Followed the instructions, (and when I did it with an Aiko3 bodice it worked without a hitch), using the same instructions. Will try a different stephanie outfit. Marque is looking around the den for a bigger hammer...heheh Marque

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 12:37 PM

She-Freak is a V3 derivative, and needs V3-with-morphs for the install program to work. But it uses a specific geometry file. The problem with Python losing focus -- I've seen that with the Demo version.

nickedshield ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 12:43 PM

So, what I said above could possibly work. Not doiing anything to the geometry, just names. Off to play with EJ and the TenTens and see how bad I can mess them up:)

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

MeInOhio ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 7:19 PM

You know I was just thinking...I had that trouble converting the shorts for Apollo. So does a file gets stored after I convert and does it remain even if I close Poser and all. If so, maybe something went wrong with the conversion and it keeps using the bad file?

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 8:20 PM

What do you use for say harem pants that are loose, the skirt button? Thanks, Marque

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 8:22 PM

Grrr went from V3 to Aiko 3 and getting this again Please rename the 'To' figure to 'To When I get to convert to What is going on?? Marque

PhilC ( ) posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 9:22 PM

There is one on joint parameters and one on body handles. You'll see the links within those two paragraphs on the instructions page. To get to the instructions from within Wardrobe Wizard click Utilities ---> Help.

I also get the out of focus Python window with P5 too...I have to click several times to awaken it.

I'm having this same trouble too with Poser 5 (current patches) for Windows. I've read the tutorials and still can't get it to work on any of my V3 to morphed V3 or S3 to V3 or V3 to S3 or S3 to morphed S3. Maybe PhilC can tell me and some others what's going on because so far I can't get anything to work just like you. This is VERY frustrating to say the least for an expensive program. I hope it's a simple fix.

PhilC ( ) posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 6:23 AM

The focus of the Python window in Poser 5 is is a known issue for all scripts, not just Wardrobe Wizard. When it looses focus (gray text on buttons), I start by clicking the window title bar, then the Wardrobe Wizard "Back" button if its available. Finally if that does not do it I close and reopen the Python scrip window. Yes something of a pain in the neck. I just glad that CL fixed it in Poser 6.

The V3 that the Wardrobe Wizard works with has the OBJ file blMilWom_v3.obj Stephanie has the OBJ file blStephanie.obj If for any reason your figure is using a different OBJ then it will not work. (V1/2 low res etc are supported, here I'm just talking about V3).

It is very possible that you will need to click the smooth and inflate buttons a number of times. Particularly when going from an adult to a child. We felt that this system was going to be easier for users than get then to select areas and use something like magnets.

To be honest I do not know what Marque was doing wrong initially. Maybe she could explain in her own words. I'm very happy to work with anyone that is having difficulty but I'll need more info than just "It wont work for me"

Thanks,

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 9:45 AM

Still can't do the Steph outfit, but not concerned enought about it to deal with it right now. As far as P5 goes, there is a trick that you may have forgotten. Ctrl Alt Del to bring up the task manager and after highlighting Poser hit the switch to button, sometimes that will wake it up. Marque

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 9:46 AM

TigerD ( ) posted Thu, 14 July 2005 at 6:53 AM

I don't know if this helps, but after trying the V3 catsuit on Dina a couple of times and getting the same funky underwear, I realised that the catsuit I was using was a remapped version. I tried the original catsuit and it worked fine.
