I'm currently amusing myself with rendering WWII aircraft. Anyone have suggestions on how best to make the propellers on this P-38 Lightning appear to be spinning? I've toyed with it a bit but find the results less than realistic.

Hi Kcc you could do it in post work by selecting the propeller and then useing a motion blur filter. Most image editors have a blur filter. Hawkfyr

Here's a simple idea to try. I just made a flat disc and use a glass texture on it, cut the refraction to zero, and lined it up with the prop. Then selected the prop and set it to about 80 percent transparent. I didn't get everything a 100 percent linned up , but you get the idea. You could also use a texture map on the disc to get a blur effect. Have fun, If I'm not clear feel free to ask questions. Glass disk and duplicated propellers rendered in glass....trying for that "ghost prop" look.

Good work, looking good.Couple of suggestions if you don't mind, try setting your material for the propellers to blur instead of normal in the material editor(click the little downward pointing arrow near middle top of the page in the editor page) and there is quite a bit of banding on the main fuselage (dont know if its intentional but if not) you need to smooth your mesh by selecting the mesh and clicking the small E symbol to edit the mesh and select smooth.
