some try with fake caustics...

Nice job on the spiral texture of the straw :) What made you decide on faking caustics ? Better control or bad results with Vue's caustic effect ?

Good job, Is there anything to do to fix the triangles at the top of the glass on the rim? I'm having problems with my renders of this scene with the top of the glass. I think the shadows of your backround picture don't match the shadow of the glass.

triangles on top drive mi crazy ! is an unresolved issue for me... about the background isn't the final background... and about caustics my try is simulating something like "photons" deviation of light in glass material, like the "big" sw like 3d studio can make with Vray or mentalray...

It looks like there was a problem with the conversion of the original model into a 3ds file. I will look into it tonight and post an updated version of the scene (and the glass as a separate object).

Thank you for the clarification and the soon to be update. Rodluc, I look forward to your next render.

Have a look at the thread of the workshop. I updated the scene. These triangles were weird. I rendered the same object in carrara and vue 4, vue 4 and vue infinite... the renders in Vue all had that glitch. The render in carrara did not. I ended up cutting off the top of the glass with a boolean operation to remove those triangles.
