Subject: Just a longstanding curiosity...

I use Firefox, and I have not been seeing thumbnails in the Freestuff section (Not all thumbnails... but at least 90%). For security reasons, I refuse to use IE for anything but the bare minimum of software updating purposes. Can someone tell me why The freestuff doesn't work with FF, and how to get them to? The Merchants thumbnails all work, just not Freestuff ... Thanks... P.S. Yes the thumbnails do appear in IE... Starlok

There's too much hype 'bout FireFox. If you switch to it mainly for security reasons, without using a serious firewall, an anti-spyware and an antivirus on your pc, you're looking for troubles... never had ANY trouble with worms, spyware, trojans and viruses since I implemented some simple security measures, even if I use IE...

I'm also using Firefox (1.0.4) and have no trouble with thumbnails in freestuff.

IIRC, the thumbnails are not hosted at Renderosity (I know there were plans to allow it, I don't know if it ever happened). If you are using a firewall of some sort, perhaps it is not letting the files through since they are coming from a different website than the one you are looking at (Renderosity).

There is also a setting in the Firefox options (Web Features) for loading images. There is a sub-choice for the originating web-site only. If that is set, it may be blocking the thumbnails.

Sorry guys, but I have no trouble viewing freestuff thumbnails in Firefox....unless the item was deleted off their own server. lol

LOL... Thanks, Yewston... I never noticed that little setting in the options... That cleared it right up. As to the IE vs Firefox thing. For me the problem lies in that The required number and size of updates is far larger for IE.. THe critical threats seem targetted specifically, and I happen to like "Tabbed Browsing". But seriously... I have dialup, not broadband. I can no longer update windows due to the fact that the SP2 Disk MS sent me is bad and hangs during system reinstalls...and DLing it from WinUpd is out of the question. Finally, I just decided to hang it all up with XP and wait for the next bug-ridden release from Redmond. Until then, I will remain with Firefox and now I can once more enjoy visiting and seeing what people have provided to enhance my gooey rendering pleasure.. Thanks, all for the quick response and -please- don't turn this into a flame war, ok? Play nice and have fun! Starlok

Glad you were able to solve your problem, Starlok. :)

Just thought I'd mention this...... I've been a long time user of Netscape. However I've always had IE just in case, particularly for those pages Netscape couldn't render/wasn't supported. I just downloaded version 8. It's very slick and...... It lets you determine which rendering engine you want to use for web sites (IE or FireFox) so it's a bit like having both in the one program.

Only your mind limits yourImagination. Let it free.

Glad you got it working now.
