I can do it, but am not good enough at it to explain it. If you post this thread in the Wings 3d Forum, you might get a quicker, and more thorough response. They are very helpful there, and no one knows Wings 3d better.

well..tjohn's better at wings than I, so I can't be much help. There's a way to bring a plane picture as a background, which has been used to good effect by the folks in the Wings forum. C'mon by the forum, and we'll see what we can do..;)

Ive been working on this one. Its a pretty exact replica of the Diamond c1 eclipse. Ive flown the plane many times but it helped to get pictures of all the angles for a basis because the aerodynamics of an airplane can be hard to model. http://www.controller.com/listings/forsale/detail.asp?ohid=1090841 The fueselage(sp?) and empenage are all one piece made from distorting a cone. Planes by nature have a lot of curves so I had to make a lot of cuts for a more natural look. The wings, propellers, and landing gear are the only seperate pieces.

Spiffy looking sport plane there. Almost looks like you could power it down once aloft and use it as a glider. As far as the modeling goes, it looks pretty good so far. You have the general shape worked out real good. It might need some extra edges or some edges reworked because I can see some areas of funky shading in the OpenGL view. Having wireframe shots wouldn't hurt if you're looking for more pointers on modeling. If you're working from pictures remember that theres some distortion from the lens angle. If you're taking the pictures yourself, you can reduce that by getting far away and using a strong zoom. The smaller the lens angle the better. Then when using plan views (or good side on reference photos) switch to ortho mode in Wings to reduce parallax and perspective distortion. It seems that this might be why some dimensions of your model appear off when compared to the photos. If you need more accuracy still, I suppose you could get actual measurements and then arbitrarily pick a unit of choice and make the Wings unit equal to that.

Hmm... as has been said, there is a forum for this. But why not start with a cube (or just take an appropriate polygon on each side of your plane and extrude normal), take the ends and skinny them down, then use the smooth function to round out the wing?
