Subject: What key commands do you use most often?

onimusha ( ) posted Sat, 09 July 2005 at 9:56 PM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 9:27 AM

Someone's post made me realize how many key commands that I don't use in P6. I've been using Poser for a year now, and find myself not really using it as efficiently as I can. So I'd love it if people shared the shortcuts they most often use...

I tend to avoid using the keyboard shortcuts since Poser's key commands are laid out so badly. I do, however, use the numeric keypad for typing values into the dials.

In the "Most Often - in a Row category, for me it would be: CTL+DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT !!!! ...when trying to abort a render upon realizing that I still haven't fixed the original problem that caused me to stop the previous render.

Ctrl+C to copy the dial parameter value I am about to FUBAR...Then the keypad to do the FUBARing...Then Ctrl+V to fix. I don't trust Undo ;-) I never use the keyboard for anything else though. With my hand already on the mouse, it's easier to just click around to what I need to do.

I regularly use ctrl+M (switch to Main camera), shift+ctrl+H (restore camera), ctrl+Y (render settings) and ctrl+R (render).

CTRL M,Y,U, and R most often, along with whatever blasted key on the keypad splits your camera view into multiple ports. That last one isn't intentional but I end up doing it a lot after trying to input values into the various dials. Other than that, I almost never use keyboard shortcuts in Poser. Kind of odd considering how often I use em in other programs.

Ctrl+= to go to the Face Room.

Ctrl+z, I hate seeing the Undo selection greyed out so I just take my chances with the keyboard shortcut :)

Ctrl/Alt/Delete ;)

I use the drop down menu.. point and click.. .method. Even in Windows I don't use key commands. Other than "CTL ALT DEL" and "CTL V"... which I just learned so I could copy my runtime paths to the Compression window in Poser, I don't know any other Window short cuts. LOL

I use the Memorize and Restore shortcuts a lot. Memorize: ALT+CTRL+A [All] ALT+CTRL+E [Element] ALT+CTRL+F [Figure] ALT+CTRL+L [Lights] ALT+CTRL+H [Camera] Restore: CTRL+A [All] CTRL+E [Element] SHIFT+CTRL+F [Figure] SHIFT+CTRL+L [Lights] SHIFT+CTRL+H [Camera]

Apart from the obvious ones - R, Y and U. Ctrl-M - main camera Ctrl-= - face camera Ctrl-F - front camera Ctrl-T - top camera Ctrl-E - restore element Ctrl-C/V - copy/paste Ctrl-W - close render Alt-F-H - Hier Editor Alt-F-J - Joint Editor Other than that, there aren't many usable ones. Poser hotkeys suck. Yet another thing that hasn't been changed in 10+ years. mac

So either I get the fingers of a master pianist or I use the mouse. Who thought up these ridiculous key combos to do stuff you need to do constantly? Most of this stuff should be a one key shortcut...
