July Fractal Themed Challenge: "Opposites Attract"

Hi everybody!

I'm glad to present you this month's themed challenge with a great theme chosen by June challenge winner, Zemela.

I'm sure this will bring some very, very interesting entries. Work hard, and be sure to learn something while having fun! :)))

As usual, please please please, read the rules carefully! And don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Cheers!
Barb

hi barb, would it be possible, due to the summer-holidays, to make it a challenge of july/august? like the theme, great idea, but a difficult one. monica

hrm....damn this one is not gonna be easy! I hate to say it, but I'm gonna have to second the motion for a july/august challenge-I think its the only way to get enough entries to make this thing really cool....

Ok, let's hear some opinions and if we have enough people interested in extending it, no problem. Barb

Never change a winning contest, it is enough time in july!

I think 30 days should be plenty to come up with something. I like these challenges and, especially on the last couple, there is some amazing art that gets created due to them. This month's theme is a little tough but I reckon we may see some incredibly well done yin/yang designs from it among other ideas? Rick

No changes, please. I agree with Rykk. Marion

Hi guys, I agree the theme is tough, but there is a special reason for that - I really want that we move our brains and make the challenge a real one. I think little brainwork and and motivation can bring really good works. By the way, I am on traveling most of the time.

Oh yeah, that theme really kicked me with some inspiration! 10 more minutes at work, then I'll run home and begin designing ;). Great theme choice. And about time limit, I agree that july is enough for challenge.

Ok, having heard your opinions, July only it will be. :) Barb

Here's a question I've had for a while: when it says in the rules

Image MUST be a new work, not previously posted in the gallery.

Does that mean it is OK if the image was previously posted somewhere other than the Renderosity gallery? I guess if someone could explain the intent of the rule, then I'd have an easier time figuring out its limits.

It must be a NEW work, as it says in the first part of the sentence. I guess we could rephrase the second part of the sentence to "not previously posted in any gallery". Would that be more clear?

Actually no. It would still sound like you're saying "it's OK if it was posted somewhere, just not in a gallery" or some such. I guess I don't understand the value of the second half of the sentence -- what does that add to "image must be a new work"? It sounds to my ears like it's trying to qualify the first part in some way, but I don't see how. If the first half really says it all, why not chuck the second half altogether? "Image must be a new work". Isn't that enough? (Upon re-reading: If you don't like the notion of "new" in there (it doesn't matter when it was created, of course) then change it to "previously unpublished" or some such.) It might just help folks like me who sometimes see more complexity than is really intended...

Thanks Lagardo Will re-word it for future Challenges :D
