There was a new bridge lighting ceremony on 7-14-05 in South Carolina. The Ravenel Bridge was completed a year ahead of schedule and under budget. It is the largest cable-stayed bridge in the eastern hemisphere. It has eight lanes and a pedestrian lane. The old Cooper river Bridge can be seen in the background and is slated to be destroyed within the week. This image was taken with a 200mm lens, about 42 seconds at f16. There was a $250,000 firework display preceeding the lighting of the bridge. Thanks for viewing. Thomas

Wow...besides being great shots...it looks as though everyone is copying the design of our bridges. The Alex Fraser was the first such suspension bridge of its kind. The company I worked for built it. The our Skytrain bridge followed in its wake. I cannot wait till our fireworks celebration. This bridge is the one I am talking about.

"it looks as though everyone is copying the design of our bridges" Somewhere in my archives, I have a few pictures of that same style of bridge when I traveled through Europe. This was over 25 years ago that I took pictures of them. Not sure how long they were in place before I came along.

GREAT photos! Beautiful bridge and fireworks. You captured both wonderfully. Doug, your pic is great, too. Very relaxing. :)
