Another 'very fine' selection. Thank you again for providing this feature. Marion

The FWW is a great demonstration of the principle that a person or two with taste beats any rule book. It sure ain't "my" taste, but it is a pleasure to have a look at it every week. Beacuse it selects some very fine fractalling.

I'd be curious how much work goes into this - it sure appears as if you folks have to look at a whole lot of fractals during the average day, no? And I wonder how much harder it would be to have a special showcase website just for these, call the whole thing "online museum of fractal art" and rename you to "curator". For some reason, a lot of people seem to think that such a thing is desirable and that it is a prohibitive amount of work -- from what I can tell 95% of the work is already being done quite well right here anyways and it sure ain't clear to me why none of those who think it would be a good idea to take this one step further just simple does so.

Just a litte side-thought...

A great display of true and beautiful fractal creations

Thank you for the compliments everybody! I'm glad you all enjoy it so much :) Sven, I'm not sure I'm following you. What is it you're suggesting? If you mean keeping past FWWs, we already have that. You can access the archives by either going to the bottom of the current FWW page or through the link at the Fractal Community page. If you mean something else, well, I'm tired, so my brain must not be working well :) Could you please explain it again? Thank you! Barb

Barb and Nick i hope you keep this Weekly gallery my knowledge from the English langauge is to small to understand Sven his reaction . But for me and much another folks i am pretty sure about that is the Weekly gallery a very refreshing part of this fractal communne I am really glad to see that you not work with that strange vote system that only works for a fast group of good friends that has much free time to surf around for giving comments and that V thing Shall never belong of that group for reason that i look only to the quality of the pic so far i can understand that LOL and only vote as i think this really superB in my eyes Think personal that most of us can use that extra stimulance from the Weekly Gallery Of course we make in the first place this work for us own pleasure But i am honest enough to say that it gives me a good feeling as i have sometime a pic inside your Weekly Gallery Spend much time on all my fractals and try to bring a wide variation and this valuation does me really good Have a great week Cheers Fractelaar

You have chosen another great group this week. I am so honored that you chose my 'Heart On Ice' for inclusion. I look forward to this each week.

Fractals will always amaze me!

I'm sorry for being unclear. I recall several online conversations where people stated things to the effect that Fractal art would benefit from some kind of "online museum" or such -- a distinguished, respected, place where folks can show up occasionally and spend a couple minutes or an hour just looking at good fractal art. I don't personally think that that is such a good idea, but I certainly can't see where it would hurt any to have such a thing. The conversation stops, predictably, when the question is asked "who should be the curator of that place" as the understanding is that this person/group would have to look at a lot of art and pick the "best" - and that would invite a lot of haggling over the choices and maybe bad blood and a lot of work for a thankless job and who is really qualified to determine what the "best" is etc. etc. However it strikes me that you guys are already doing exactly that job -- and you're doing a fine job at that. You're already sifting through mountains of possibilities and you pick what you consider best and while I'm sure nobody out here has 100% the exact same taste as you, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hostility about your choices -- they're your choices and everybody understands that and nobody seems to have a problem. And I'm just wondering where those are coming from that say an online-museum that exibits "the best that fractal art has to offer" would be a prohibitive amount of work and sow hostility. I see a very similar function being performed quite well right here on the FWW. That's all I wanted to note. Nothing important, really.

Oh, I understand better now, thank you! You're right about "You're already sifting through mountains of possibilities and you pick what you consider best and while I'm sure nobody out here has 100% the exact same taste as you, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hostility about your choices -- they're your choices and everybody understands that and nobody seems to have a problem." I'm glad the everybody understood from the beginning that we don't claim these picks are "THE" best. We just use our own esthetic criteria, and of course couldn't do otherwise :) A fractal "museum" would be a lot of extra work, without even mentioning who would be the right "curators". People will always have different tastes and I can see where that could lead to potential problems, hurt egos and so on. On the other hand, everyone is capable of doing their own "museums" on their sites, blogs, etc. Thank you for sharing your thoughs, Sven. It's always nice to exchange thoughts. Barb
