Subject: Tech Tip: Preventing P4/Propack from erasing some forms of ERC

byAnton ( ) posted Sun, 24 July 2005 at 8:22 PM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 4:37 PM

Not that people read these anymore, but I'll share anyway. There is a little known bug in P4/Propack where it can erase some erc from cr2's when saving them back into the library. This only happens if another figure is in the scene. :) Crazy old Poser. hehe Don't save ERC'd cr2's into the library when another figure is in the scene. It erases some erc from the cr2, sometime randomly and sometimes not at all. I have seen it with erc, jcm, etc. Deleteing one first won't help either. Always load and save out from an empty scene. Crazy Poser. :) Anton byanton.com

Interesting! I've seen that happen, but didn't blame Poser; just thought I'd edited something wrong. Next time I'll blame Poser!

I have to do some test byt it may be a crosstalk issue. I suspect it may be the duplicate references to Figure1 in both figures But I haven't tested yet.

Unconforming, without deleting the other figure, seems to solve the issue as well.

Thank you much for the tip Anton! pitklad

Thanks for the tip byAnton. Xena seems to sujest that this may only happen when conformed figures are used, can anyone confirm or refute this?

byAnton ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2005 at 2:45 PM

I have seen it done where nothing is actually conformed, just loaded. I need to test the figure number reference. First time I ever saw it was when i saved V3 and all her JCM vanished. I haven't checked P6 yet. I am of the mind there are two classes of Poser. P4/Propack are one category, handling crosstalk similar Poser5/6 is their own class and handle crosstalk uniquely. Like so many crosstalk anomolies, it is ellusive. hehe

Deleteing one first won't help either. For me, deleting one first is usually what causes it. I ran into this a lot recently when creating matching body morphs for Furraldo's conforming clothing.

That is odd. WHat version of Poser are you using ?
