Subject: Has this ever happened to you with MAT/INJ poses?

dlfurman ( ) posted Tue, 26 July 2005 at 3:44 PM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 10:16 AM

I'll have a character in a zero pose (or any other pose for that matter) and when I load a character injection, the right leg (just the right leg) will kick out of place and when I click anywhere again , the right leg will move back into place. It does not matter what character model it is. Poser 6-SR1, AMD Athlon 64 2800+, 512MB ram.

I've seen it with the left leg, myself. I've also had the feet shift if I use the face camera at certain angles - just moving the camera shifts the feet. I love my Poser, really I do.

Yep.. Just finished a character set the other day and i noticed this happens - looks like it is a Poser 6 thing - doesn't seem to affect anything - it's just strange.

I'm getting that at the minute. It's Aiko3 wearing BATLab's Killy suit and the Erin hair from DAZ. When I apply a MAT for the hair, Aiko does the right leg shuffle! Nothing goes wrong with the scene, as the leg reverts to the previous position, however, it is disconcerting!

Ok, then I'm no MORE crazy than I was before (What a relief!)

Poser 5 sometimes does similar things. Joints breaking, clothes jumping off, eyes popping out.

Yep, I've loaded the Mil characters either injected them or slightly moved them & the leg gets really stretched & the foot goes completely wonkers. When I render though, the problems does not show. P5 & P6.

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 26 July 2005 at 5:12 PM

I have recently had a bikini jump up and down as I dial in a character's face morphs, or move the eyes a little and such. After a little whle it calms down and slides back into place :o) :] Fish

Yep, strange things here too, with P4 and P6 (never used P5). Sometimes shifting cameras, hands will move, clothing will un-conform. Just today, with P6, I loaded a skin Mat, and Vicky's right hand started moving around -- even though both "lock hand parts" and "lock figure" were checked.

Yep, that happens to me as well in P6 ... the right leg goes all wierd, but I don't have to click anywhere else for it to go back to normal. All I have to do is move the cursor back over the workspace. Very strange ...

FishNose, bikinis jumping up and down, yea that sounds cool. How do I do that? ;)

KDoug ( ) posted Tue, 26 July 2005 at 7:43 PM

That happened to me not too long ago! I was removing some face INJ morphs from V3 and I had it on the Face Camera at the same time. When I switched back to the Main Camera, both legs had slanted to one side! Jumping bikinis does sound interesting... :P

If you run a pose that call out channels to adjust that don't actually exist Poser 4 and PP apply them elsewhere, I didn't think Poser 6 did that, though, but I suspect that is what is happening.

::: Cues spooky music ::: It's haints! Haints I tells ya! Ya gotta sprinkle yer monitor with holy water, ayup. Either that or the model is just tired of standing around waiting for you to get with the rendering already. I mean, really, YOU try just standin' there in one position while someone else decides what your hair is gonna look like or what clothes you're gonna wear. You'd get fidgity too. :P Kate the Ever So Silly

I remember strange things like these happend to me, too. Some years ago (with Poser 5) I had a character with dynamic hair. Sometimes, when I just loaded her, the hair went away - but only in the preview. The render was ok. I asked the CL tech support but couldn't get much help (or no help at all with this special case). Then, just recently with Poser 6, I used the DAZ Tawhak dinosaur with its saddle. To match another figure I scaled it a little. Then, when I twisted the stirrup it moved up and down wildly, but returned to its position after a short time. So, oddities like these keep happening ...

Does this happen with IK off? I've had weird behavior in P6 where the entire object turns invisible when I apply a transparency. And then other times I see it the way P6 is supposed to preview transparencies. Nothing jumping around lately though.

On my systems it consistently happens if IK is turned on. Never with IK turned off. And I have the same weird transparency/invisibility effect. Haven't found a reason yet.
