Subject: Poser hair in Bryce?

bandolin ( ) posted Fri, 29 July 2005 at 11:55 AM ยท edited Tue, 11 February 2025 at 8:49 PM

I've taken to creating rudimentary hair in Wings to cover my Poser figures' chrome domes.

I know that dynamic hair won't import into Bryce (or is that export out of Poser).

Has anyone found a solution to getting a mop on Poser heads in Bryce? Modelling semi-realistic hair is time consuming.

Check out kozaburo's site (link is also under webring top 15 to the bottom right here) for the best in transmapped hair. I believe Rochr has a tut on his site for how to use it.

I haven't had any luck getting Koz's hair into Bryce (and don't think I haven't tried..;) The old hair types (stock Poser stuff, Worldgate 2000's [caution, adult material], etc., will transfer over. If you can keep track of the textures, that's a big help, though I've used mats from Lunariad.com (brown hair mat, for example), which have worked. Check 'em out.
But if there is a way to use Koz's hair, I'll have to check that out..thanks..

All you must do is import the transparency map. then onc eit is applied use the pull down menu next to the testures and select blended transparency. Koz's hair works fine in Bryce if you do that.

As per Dann-O, the secret to tranmapped hair is the blend transparency. The other trick is the texture and trans map have to be applied parametrically.

AAAAAARGH, I put the button on bump instead of transparency in the image! Please activate the transparency instead of the bump when you try this.

Incarnadine said very well :) also here is one more thread about hair transparency in Bryce - here are the settings for Kozaburo hair, others work just the same :) only don't forget to choose "blend transparency".

DAZ Studio in Bryce 5.5 should bring all this stuff in fine without any manual intervention.

pakled ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 4:20 PM

hmm..wonder what it would do in Bryce 5.0? (Daz Studio)..have to check on that..

If you have Bryce 5.01, you'll need the Turbo Importer to get the transparencies imported and applied after exporting from DS. The TI is included in 5.5. -darlisa

Yes, DAZ Studio is the best route in my opinion if you want all your textures imported stress free.

Incarnadine ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2005 at 7:30 PM

I always did the assigments of textures in my final app (either bryce or Cinema) by hand. Gives me more control as to what, where and how. Takes a bit longer I know but I like that bit of control.

Used to be Bantam3D Hair but it seems that's no longer available.
