**The first DAZ|Studio Release Candidate (version 0.9.27.0) has just been released for both the MAC and the PC!**

This new build marks the last stage of the public BETA. Once the only bug reports submitted are ones deemed as non-critical, then version 1.0 of DAZ|Studio will be released very soon thereafter. This is a very exciting time for us at DAZ, and we hope for each of you that has helped bring DAZ|Studio to this point. The DAZ|Studio of today is significantly more robust than how DAZ|Studio was initially announced (see original DAZ|Studio announcement here). We feel very confident that version 1.0 will be released very soon and are excited to begin bringing a lot more attention to our community through the marketing effort that will be put behind DAZ|Studio.

The DAZ|Studio Software Developer Kit (SDK) is being completed as we speak, and should be released relatively soon after version 1.0 is made public. The SDK is being made very broad and allows third party developers wide access to the DAZ|Studio core functionality. This will allow developers a large amount of freedom in their ability to code plugins and new utilities for use with DAZ|Studio. The sky is the limit for these third party developers, and you, the users, should benefit greatly because of it.

Please remember that DAZ|Studio is being deemed "Tell-Ware" and we politely request that each one of our over 95,000 unique DAZ|Studio users tells at least two other people that don't know about DAZ|Studio so that they can have a chance to try it out for themselves. With simple actions like this, we all can help to expand this community.

Enjoy!

There is a bug in the light handling routine - if you remove the lights from your Poser scenes they will open in the new build. They have fixed it but are waiting to see what other bugs show, Rob said aiming for a Monday update (but I'd regard that as subject to change). DAZ|Studio base (ie what we have now) is intended to be free, as long as it draws in new customers and sells plugins and content, according to DAZ. It's Tellware - you "pay" by telling two people about it.

So Version 1.0 will still be free? Kewl :) I think this program is going to keep growing, and become an awesome package for us all.

Yep 0.927.0 is far more stable, but It does keep getting multiple errors loading scenes and some props. It also can't see some obj geometries... eg Billy T's Red sandals, they are greyed out in the browser when you try to load them manually... like they arent recognised. And I only just bought them... boo!

This build doesn't like lights in saved poser scenes - it's a known bug, there should be a fix early next week.

Will Daz Studio 1.0 have animation capabilities?

xantor ( ) posted Sun, 07 August 2005 at 5:58 PM

Daz studio already has some animation capabilities, you can make keyframe animations though I dont know how well it works yet (I havent been using `studio much recently).

SKondris ( ) posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 8:42 AM

The import bug mentioned here has also been fixed, we plan to have a second release candidate available sometime this week. As for animation, the core of DAZ|Studio will primarily just have the ability to import and playback animations created in other programs, such as Poser. There are plans for an animation plugin which will add considerably to D|S ability to create and edit animations. Thanks for your enthusiasm, spread the word! Help make D|S the application of choice for newbies who want to get started in 3D but don't have a ton of cash, after all, it is free. :D Enjoy!
