Found these while looking for something a bit older. I think these were 2nd year for me. Anyone else willing to drag out the "Old pics from the Attic"? (grin)

Sorry, most of my attic was lost many years ago (good thing, too). I still remember the first thing I ever did in Bryce was a volcano with a DaVinci standing on it, in Bryce 3.

I used to use poser for some stuff which I have not done in years.(another reason is because I went to Saudi Arabia and they confiscated my disc in 2002) Here is the cast for a sci fi comic I wanted to do. This is pic 2.

I don't have my first image anymore but I remember exactly what it was and could probably re-create it in about 2 minutes. It took me hours then but it was a floating pyramid over a flat plane with a squashed sphere (Spaceship) above it and a light shining down on the pyramid. All default materials and sky. I remember being so damn proud of that scene that I used it as my desktop for months...lol Oh...it was Bryce 2 The first version of Bryce that was available for PC. Version 1 was Mac only. Tom

Hawkfyr ( ) posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 9:46 PM

Oh...in my mind..it was a Hot 20 for sure... This was before many of these online forums even existed.(I think that alt.binaries.3d.Bryce newsgroup was though) Gawd that was along time ago. Does any of you old timers remember a game on AOL by MetaCreations called "Meta Squares"? I'd pay money to have that game available again...lol Tom

Its very nice to go into reminiscence but, When was it that you all became to think that you got better? (My second image!) and to see what your producing now was way off in your dreams and who was your 'God' of Brycing then? I remember only using Bryce 2 (free with a computer mag around 1998ish) and 'trying' to make images. I didnt have any internet then so it was only through pictures i saw that gave me ideas, plus the use of shiny spheres/colours and a very long render time!.......(nothing has changed!)....... Seeing all your images that has inspired me over time and your new ones which seem to come from a completely new 3D programme (will Bryce 6 show even better images!)I often think how quick we all gained expertise in Bryce. I cant wait for all the new image to come and learn more from this wonderful programme we have all become to love. To the many hours to come!!!

Smile, your dead a long time :)

As each of us learns and passes it on, the knowledge base becomes wider and more intricate. Those following will acheive wiser more detailed learning, as does each new generation of children. If you love art, be responsible to Art and pass it on. Whoa....where'd that come from. (That's what I said about my old artwork) LOL Cmon there has to more!!

Here's my first-ever "scene." I had done some models and the standard clouds and horizon presets, but this one was the first I ever did in which I attempted to maintain control over all the scene elements. The year was 1999. It was Bryce 2.

I once thought it would be cool to take elements from several different renders and combine them in one big new render. I was wrong. :^)

My first actual image (as opposed to experiments to see how shiny things looked over water) was actually the lake one out of the manual. These are some early ones.... that sort of point to where I headed in the larger scheme of things. (The first plastic person scene led to a 128MB -> 320MB ram upgrade)

Thanks. I had to reconnect an old 2GB HDD that was sitting on my bookshelf to find some of those pics. The castle was an all-bryce model as well from memory (it taught me that me and boolean modelling were a mismatch lol).

Here's some of my earliest. The last one was an idea done for what ended as the first picture in my gallery here. And except the Poser figures in the first and second image, as well as the curtains in the second one, _everything_ was modelled in Bryce. Edit: And the boat was a freebie, too, of course. :-/ BTW, Rod, Bryce 2 was in the mid-Nineties. '95 or so.

This was my first post to Renderosity. It's dated August 11, 2000. I wish I'd seen this thread two days ago--it would have been cool to show it on my anniversary. Made in Bryce 4, this was my fourth effort. It's titled "The One Who Lost" Yeah, no fooling!
