You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I like both :). Cool lady, Trekkie :) Anthony, why can't I see your error page in IE ? It just says 404, plain Windows ugly thing. I can see your customized 404 error site in K-meleon only, which is yet another Mozilla clone.

Thanks for advice nruddock, I did unchecked that weird option and I can see it in IE :)

IE has an option which controls whether or not you get the default error pages. Tools menu, select "Internet Options ...", click on the Advanced tab and look for "Show friendly HTTP error messages". When unchecked you should be able to see the custom 404 page instead of the IE default one. Odd that we can see Trekkie's with that option on. Is how your Server manages it? (I know I have to make it my Server Error Page for it to work for everyone.)

I like them all.
On the old VAX Cluster system (mainframe), local Intergraph workstations used to have an error message: "Path Lost to Partner".
As the VAX system used to go down at least three times a week, "Path Lost to Partner" became a common phrase used around one of my old contract employer's offices.
"Path Lost to Partner" sounds more poetic than the plain-vanilla 404 error.
Oh, yeah....... And who can forget the equivalent of the 'blue screen of death' on an Amiga? They used to be called "Guru Meditations".
Odd that we can see Trekkie's with that option on Not really. My 404 isn't a "real" 404, it's just the index.html on my personal server to stop people from getting a directory listing. I do plan to implement it on my "real" homepage though. As soon as I figure out what it's supposed to be named L Mizrael, I like lostin3D's 404 too :oD

Okay, I'll play. Here's mine, with a little haiku to (hopefully) amuse the lost surfers. Anthony, the line of dots on yours means I have to scroll horizontally to see all the text. And did you mean "Best report this as another 404 error, Sarge", or is the patrolman French? :PEnglishBob, I love the Haiku! And the page is very stylish and informative. Very nice! Isn't it funny really to work hard on creating pages you really hope no one is ever going to see?

I thought that at first, but my statistics panel counts the errors themselves rather than the hits on that page. It's a feature of my hosting package; you can specify a custom page to be served whenever a particular error occurs. I've got pages for 400, 401, 403 and 404. That was fascinating, wasn't it? :D
the reflection on the guy on the left's viser makes his right eye look funny. Like the page- a lot!!! Clever! Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Silly question - but where does one normally start looking to see if they can change their 404 page? Sort of scanned all my directories but can't see the pages anywhere.....
