my monitor is set a bit lighter then most... not sure how many will see the skull & cats eyes i can barely see them myself should be interesting to see how many can :]

TwoPynts ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 11:25 AM

What about the overall image. Is the window too big for the idea I'm trying to get across do you think? Also, there is a bug and spider there too. ;] Thanks for the feedback cyn!

cynlee ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 11:44 AM

ok. i see the spider now, can't figure out the bug blob... looks like it could be interesting... the window looks fine for the overall size of the image but think it's entirely too dark for most anyone to make out let's see... :]

TwoPynts ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 11:54 AM

I don't really want people to make out the images unless they really look, it was meant to be more subliminal than anything else. Basically, you are in a dark room looking up and out into the bright airy sky. Maybe it need more work. :)

well i do like the concept... :]

ryno ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 2:32 PM

I am a fan of the subtle and subliminal. That part of the image is perfect. Something about the compo of the clouds and sky, or is it the perspective of the window frame and the one bar that doesn't quite work for me. JMHO:}

cynlee ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 2:43 PM

hey.. :] you know what might be cool? some kind of ominous filtering of the sky... like red or putrid mustard...

TwoPynts ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 3:00 PM

Yeah ryno, I'm thinking I need a different window. There is this dark stairwell at work and I got the idea while going downstairs the other day. It was dark and grey inside, and so blue and lovely outside. So cyn, I hadn't considered changing the sky color since that is where the viewer is supposed to want to be, but I like your idea...will have to see what I can come up with. Feel free to play around with this photo people. :) Thanks.

I LOVE the idea of this. My first thought would be to do it in a landscape orientation instead of portrait with the things hidden in the dark on both sides. For me, the skull and spider seem like they are on the same plain.....maybe change sizes or try to make one look like it's more in the shadows than the other. Just throwing out some thoughts. Definately keep going with this. Fantastic idea. :)

I find the overall image to be quite claustrophobic, like if an inmate was looking through his window cell! Makes me want to run away from there, fast! Need air! To breath! See? But maybe it wasn't at all what u wanted to know?! O_o Oh well! ;)

You did say play around with this??? Okay so much for the subtle and subliminal. I'm sorry I couldn't help myself hope you don't mind:}

Another cool concept! Here's my thoughts! I think all the "stuff" in the dark there is too much...over crowded! In my mind, it would be cool to see a li'l of the wall under the window...maybe layer a cinder block kinda texture. Only have a bit showing (lit) and some how... sort of spotlight a smaller spider...climbin up it! The other images...seem like hallucinations in ways! The person who's EYES we are seein thru...is goin "stir crazy" (at least to me) I actually like the sky and clouds, adds a great contrast to the darkness! A bird flyin' (symbolizing freedom) and say...a hand/arm reaching out towards the window would be awesome! Again... just my thoughts here...this is the "feelin" I think you are tryin for (IMO) Hope this helps!

Wow this is awesome ! But i had to save the pic to disc and lighten it quite a bit in paintshop before i could see the skull and stuff. Have a great day !! :o) Jeroen

That is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for everyone thank you. Yes, it was supposed to be claustrophic and the images very very hard to see so that they become almost subliminal. The work you did Jim is great, I don't mind it at all an it helps me see it in a different way, I I like Joe's ideas as well. All of your ideas and reactions help me with it actually. Here is a morning shot of the stairwell and window using a flash, so you can see the cinder blocks. Just for referrence.

I've gotta say I like the last image unedited, maybe coz at 85Hz I still can't see the images only a few lines... Sure the idea was excellent!

Attached Link: Brightness adjust

Thanks Vera. But the Hz rating should not affect how you see the image, just the refresh rate of your monitor. I have a grayscale tool on my homepage that helps you adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor. If you can only see a few lines, I suggest clicking on the link and adjusting your monitor setting until each square is distinct. Good luck! =]

Ah!! Yes!! I really like Joe's idea actually! That last shot has a lot of potential me think! ;) And u're most welcome darling, that's why we're here for, to give our silly opinions and wicked ideas! :D

Ohh this is getting interesting. All I could think of was a fairy as a reason to get out. Bsteph

Nilla ( ) posted Thu, 18 August 2005 at 7:36 PM

Sorry Kort I can't see them! :( I even went and adjusted my monitor to your color bar on the site and still can't see them. sigh I don't think I can get it any lighter to be honest. :'( Brenda

Okay, just for illustration purposes, I brighted up the dark parts. Except the spider, which I already did too much postwork on. It is from my Golden Silk II photo.

All kinds of creepy things wanting to go outside! Thats OK Kort the spider can stay in there with you! ;) I think this is a great concept but as stated above a bit crowded. Maybe use the cat's eyes larger and not so dark next time? Brenda :)

Excellent!!!

Thanks brenda...I'll work on it. Actually these are all the things in the dark with you...the reason you want to get out into the blue skied freedom. A psycological image...but needs tweeking to make it work.

No... No... No... They aren't in here with me.... They are in there with you... you took the pic! And that is one damned huge spider Kort... Don't look now but it is climbing on your leg!!! ;) Had that spider been in here with me, I would have been long gone and not bothered with the camera! climbs onto the sill and jumps out the window ;)

TwoPynts ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 1:57 PM

Careful, that's a second story window, and I meant you as the viewer. :) But I hear ya...this isn't where my mind usually is. I'm in a happy place...a happy place (...must keep telling self that!) ;-P
