Subject: reflection map question

wotdoin ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 12:32 AM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 10:59 PM

Hi, I am making some textures for sale that need a reflection map. Can I use the default poser 4 reflection map? I know its not redistributable but most people would have it in there files or can someone tell me if there is a tutorial out there that can show me how to make my own. Thanks, Debbie

Reflection Maps are really easy. There are many ways. This one uses an outdoor photo and Photoshop

Leaving a bit of color makes all the difference and makes them more real.

Anton can you explain the effect the multiply options are supposed to have?

Thanks Virus. I hope this makes sense. These two are the same essentially. The key here is "Multiply". Think of photoshop "multiply" and "color" layer properties. Mult thru lights= "multiply this map through the object tonal value where the highlights and shadows are strongest" Mult thru Color= "Color the rendered area with the object color chosen."

You can also add greyscale texture maps for textured metal effects. When I did the Mil Dragon Folk (ages ago), I used greyscale maps for celtic-like patterns with the reflection maps.
